I just saw this on a blog called "Robin Leach's Vegas Luxe Life;" one of the main sources is Perez Hilton, so I'm not too sure how reliable it is. But there seems to be a quote from Cher herself about her new album!

Plans are now being finalized by Cher, her management team, the executives of AEG Concerts and Caesars Palace for the official announcement of her new contract as one of the entertainers taking over for Celine Dion at The Colloseum.

LUXE LIFE has learned that preparations are in the works for tickets to go on sale mid-November for her first shows starting in April next year - a month after Bette Midler’s debut there! It’s believed that the official announcement will be made the day the tickets start selling. Between now and then, Cher’s advertising and marketing campaign with new photographs, costumes and sets will commence early September - and she’s got to complete her new CD this fall.

My gossip-star friend, Perez Hilton has confirmed all my reports about Cher’s upcoming Vegas show and says that she gave an interview to Chrome Hearts magazine talking about the new record:

“The truth is the songs are great. I’m totally into this album; the songs are the hardest songs. I don’t know why, but I picked the hardest songs that I’ve ever had to do on an album. I just picked them because I love them and didn’t think about actually having to sing them and they are very, very difficult. I haven’t started the album yet, but I have all the songs. I was supposed to start it, but I wasn’t ready. I wasn’t good enough. I have to really buckle down. I’ve got to do some serious, serious work. I should have done it when I got off the road, but we didn’t have all the songs. I picked the songs song-by-song. It’s not any kind of real music. It’s not a genre. It’s just great songs. More with a rock feeling to them, but not necessarily rock. Just with a great beat and also some of them sound really country.”

LUXE LIFE readers knew before anybody anywhere that Bette Midler was the first superstar contracted with Sir Elton John to fill Celine’s shoes when she leaves in December after an incredibly successful five year run to begin a world tour and then retire temporarily to have a second baby. Bette will begin her run in February when the sloped stage of Celine’s “A New Day” show will be changed for the new singers. However, both ladies in their 60’s have requested Celine’s humidification system remain in place to prevent the problems of “desert throat.”

Sir Elton’s contract at the Collosseum expires early 2009 and LUXE LIFE knows that the giant Anschultz Entertainment Group production company - owned by Colorado oil mogul, Phillip Anschultz - that runs the theater has reached out to a number of stars, including David Bowie, to take over when the Rocket Man moves on from Vegas. No word on who the third superstar will be yet, but Jerry Seinfeld will continue his four long weekend comedy gigs.

LUXE LIFE will continue to monitor the ongoing developments and new star plans at Caesars, and when Cher comes to conquer in November we’ll have all the exciting exclusive news fast and first!

Cher auction fetches double pre-sale estimates

LOS ANGELES, California (Reuters) -- An auction of more than 700 items belonging to singer and actress Cher raised over $3.5 million -- more than double pre-sale estimates -- as celebrity collectors snapped up her possessions.

The top-selling costume was a Bob Mackie-designed rock 'n' roll outfit that was sold for $60,000, up to 20 times its estimate of $2,000 to $3,000.

The buyer was Brigitte Poublon, wife of U.S. singer and actor Bobby Sherman, who once appeared with Cher on the "Sonny and Cher" television show.

The single most expensive lot was for 60-year-old Cher's black 2005 Bentley, which fetched $204,000, while the "Gothic Revival" brass bed from her Malibu residence earned $84,000.

"Today every single lot found a buyer, a true testament to Cher's fan base and longevity as a performer and star," said Darren Julien, president of Julien's Auctions which held the auction with Sotheby's.

The Los Angeles auction that ended late Wednesday had been expected to bring in between $1.4 million and $1.6 million. Part of the proceeds from the two-day sale will be donated to charity, and Cher will use some of the proceeds to redecorate her Malibu mansion.

Cher said she simply wanted to start over again and that many of the items had been kept in storage for years.

Okay, so the mystery "granddaughter" is actually Cher's GODDAUGHTER. Her parents do the leather that Cher wears for her jackets and stuff like that, and they've been friends for a long time and so the supposed "granddaughter" is actually a goddaughter.

Cher backs effort to modify soldiers' helmets

NEW YORK (AP) -- Cher, who opposes the war in Iraq but supports the troops, says using her celebrity to promote effective helmets for U.S. soldiers is rewarding -- and "the right thing to do."

"To be able to use your celebrity for something that you really think is worthwhile is so rewarding," the 60-year-old singer-actress says in an interview that was to air Wednesday night on CNN's "Anderson Cooper 360" (10 p.m. EDT).

"It just makes you feel like this is the right thing to do. This is the American thing to do," she tells Cooper. Excerpts of the interview were released in advance.

Cher says it makes her angry "when people say that if you're not for the war, you don't support the troops. And I'm not for the war. And I really support the troops."

Last week, she attended a hearing in Washington on whether to modify helmets for soldiers in Iraq. The entertainer has donated more than $130,000 to the group Operation Helmet, which pays about $100 to modify the inside of soldiers' helmets to make them better able to absorb shock from a bomb blast.

Cher tells Cooper she "was astounded at the price that could save someone's life. ... Or, you know, that such a little price had to be used to -- to save someone's life."

The Army now equips its soldiers with padded helmets designed to be shock absorbent. The Marine Corps has commissioned a study to determine whether to change its helmets but has said the ones Marines use now are effective.

Cher won a best-actress Oscar for her role in 1987's "Moonstruck." She is known for songs such as "Believe" and "If I Could Turn Back Time."

I know I don't post at all on this, but I thought this was pretty relevant, although i'm like a half a month late. This was something my friends and I did for Cher's birthday. We made shirts and wore them to school, so I dont think there was one person who didn't know Cher was turning 60... (or that we were fabulous). haha.

Since the almighty Cher is turning 60 tomorrow,
I decided to make shirts for about
30 people to wear to school to
commemorate her 60 years of fabulousness.
I think it made a huge statement in

and most of all it was just so
much fun and really hilarious.

I had my very own celebration for Cher's 60th Birthday today! It was a blast and I had so much fun. Cher even made a special appearance. ;) Even Grammy, who is sooo anti-Cher (yeah, I don't get it either) seemed to have a good time.
