It's almost time to ship! [Feb. 10th, 2008|07:37 pm]

Hi, everybody!  I hope this post finds you all healthy and happy.

First off, welcome to our newest member, [info]dragongoddess.  She found us from [info]petportraitwed.  Welcome aboard, I'm so glad you joined us!!!

Secondly, this Thursday, the 14th, is the shipping date for our first donation to St. Jude.  To date, I have received a large box of hats from [info]ofenjen, and I've made several hats of my own.  I haven't heard from anyone else letting me know whether or not they are even going to be donating.  If you'd still like to donate hats to be shipped, the donation will not be shipped out until February 28th, so you still have time to get them to me.  When you have something to ship, just leave me a message here and I'll e-mail you my physical address.  I really don't want to post it publicly, for obvious reasons.

Oh, make sure to print and use the uber-cool labels that [info]ofenjen made us on your hats!  Also, for allergy reasons, you may want to list the fiber content of the material you're using.
I guess that's it for now.  Happy crafting!!

Our very own [info]ofenjen  e-mailed me last night with some great labels to attach to your donations before you send them to me.

Just add your name to them, print them out, and attach them to your goods.

Thanks, [info]ofenjen  , for coming up with such a sweet way to let these kids know how much we care!!

[mood | hopeful]

Hi, all!  I actually meant to post this earlier this morning, but I've been swamped with work and just now got around to it.

As the holidays are over, I'm hoping we can now all turn our attention to our first organized donation to St. Jude's.

Ideally, I would love for you all to post your goods to me no later than the 14th of February.  I will then ship all of the goods in a package to St. Jude's on February 28, 2008.

Of course, I'll be sure to take pics of the donation and post them, and when I ship I'll post a delivery confirmation number here so that you all can track the progress.

If any of you would like to include a note of hope, prayer, or anything else with your crafted items, please feel free to do so.  I'll be sure to include them with the donation.  I'm also planning on including a letter letting the people at St. Jude's know who we are and what we're about.

Please comment here if you're planning on joining in this donation, so I have a general idea of what we'll be able to send.  I know that [info]ofenjen already has several hats completed and on there way to me, but I don't know about any of the rest of you!

Thanks again, everyone, for leaping on board this train with me.  I love you all!!

Our first donation! [Oct. 28th, 2007|04:47 pm]

Hi, everyone!  So sorry that it's taken me this long to give you all the information for our first donation.  I've been unbelievably swamped, and life is just now slowing down enough for me to think!

According to the responses that I got, we'll be doing a hat & glove/mitten donation.  These can be knitted, crocheted, or sewn - or any other idea that you can come up with!  The only requirement is that they must be handcrafted!

As for the deadline for shipping to me, I'm thinking January 21st, with me shipping everything to St. Jude on February 4th to give everyone's goods time to make it to me.  I'd really love to ship in January, so if I receive everything before January 28th, I'll probably go ahead and ship then instead.

If everyone who is going to participate could either post a comment here,or e-mail me, I'd really appreciate it.  I'd hate hold off shipping the goodies and then find out that everyone who was going to send already had. : )

[mood | nervous]

Good morning, crafty ones! I’ve put together a little questionnaire under the cut to help get us on the right track for our first donation to St. Jude.

Don’t panic, this won’t be going out until 2008, so you don’t have to add these crafts onto your holiday “to do” list! I just wanted us all to have plenty of time and a clear idea of what we would be doing. Did I just hear a collective sigh of relief?

Thanks again, you guys. You wouldn’t believe how much it means to me, you all jumping into this little venture with me. *hugs*

Clearing up some confusion . . . [Sep. 24th, 2007|09:03 pm]

 Hi, all!

First off, I want to welcome the first members of this little community,

[info]ofenjen, [info]dragonsinger954, and [info]annamhudson.  I can't tell you how much I appreciate you jumping on this bandwagon with me!

Second, big thanks to [info]ofenjen, for the donation of her ubercool logo for us to use and to [info]dragonsinger954, for coming up with our great name!  *hands  big bars of chocolate through cyberspace*

Now to clear up some confusion.  I listed on the bio page exactly what I expected for donations, but neglected to post it here.  The answer is pretty simple - whatever you feel led to donate is great with me!  Anything that you craft that could be of some comfort, either physical or emotional, to a sick child.  I believe that every person on earth has a special gift to share.  It's the sharing that's so special!! The only requirement would have to be that it didn't pose a choking hazard, so no small pieces that could easily come off.

As for how the donations work, I'm thinking that making four a year would be more than sufficient to start off with.  I don't want to add stress to anyone's holidays, so I was kind of thinking that the first donation could be made at the end of January.  Around the middle of January, everyone would send their donations to me, I would pack them all together under the community name, and send them on to St. Jude, making sure to take loads pictures of it all being packed and shipped.  I would also post a delivery confirmation number each time, so you could track the progress of your gift. If you think another way would be easier, feel free to let me know.  I'm new at this, so I'm bound to make plenty of goofs.

Oh, and if you're lurking, please some out and join us!  I promise I don't bite - I only nibble a little!!

Welcome to Chemo Crafters, a community for people who would like to make hand-crafted items to donate to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital!

I'm Jenn, a married mother of two from West Virginia.  I have recently been overwhelmed with the feeling that I needed to give back for all of the blessings in my life, so I decided to start this little group.

A poll will be posted on October 1st to determine the rules of the first donation to St. Jude, which I would like to make around the first of the year.  Until then, feel free to post and get to know one another, and be sure to let us know what type of crafting you do!

Thanks for being willing to donate your time and talent to this cause.  People like you make the world a better place!!
