May Challenge
I guess politics really isn't that interesting! Thank you, Treehugger, for your fic Mail Call; as a single entry, it deserves an illustration.

Overall challenge for the month of May 2007 is

Freedom


and the first weekly sub-challenge, closing on Tuesday 8th, is

Fate


You can submit any artwork any way related to freedom and it will be considered a challenge entry, but any sub-challenge entry must ALSO be related to freedom. This month's illustration winner will be chosen from among those entries that encompass both the challenge and the sub-challenge.

It aint worth artwork!

Oh... I suddenly woke up in the middle of the night last week and realised I never made an introductory post. Aint it weird what you think of in the middle of the night?

Anyway. Count this as my de-lurking (late as it is).

*bows and announces*
Please welcome the one and only mad/crazy/fantastical treehugger! PhD student extrordinaire (Soil Biology). Yes, I have to go to the meetings and say "my name is treehugger and I'm a geek. It has been 3 days since I shared an obscure fact amongst my collegues".
I'm trying to break out of that... or at least maintain my crazy creativity and prevent it from being sucked down a microscope. Hence my entry into your little world. I've been reading Mr Pratchett since he began and have stood in my fair share of queues for a book signing. He makes me think as well as laugh, a fine inheritor of the Goons/Monty Python humour. Bless his heart.

Anyway that's me. The science takes up too much of my time, so I'm very sporadic. But I'll be somewhere around. Lurking in the background.

Oh, I'm perfectly willing to wait while you edit. :D I'm working on a rather big hobbit picture now that will keep me occupied.

One thinks of weird things when one is asleep. Gilly and I were talking about it last night. When it comes to random thoughts, she wins. "Which religion denies the existence of bats?" XD

Dude, reading Pratchett is just as geeky as science. Or rather more, if you go by the distinction between nerds and geeks that I've sort of accepted, which is that nerds know a lot of useful stuff ("with this wind resistance, calculating the power of the current and the Gulf stream, this bottle mail should reach California within 24 days"), whereas geeks know a lot of stuff that is of no practical use to anybody (completing the Discworld Quiz Book with a perfect score).

You should post the introduction to the community!

I don't think I ever made an introduction myself...

If I post my intro... you should write one of your own. Though I'm sure everyone knows who the fantastic artist is!

Dude, that's totally not over the creepy-ness line. (Take it from one who crosses it faaaaaaaaaar too regularly. ;-)

Also: Yay! PhD student! :-D (I am an MA drop-out, but still a religions geek... among other kinds of geek. ;-)

Also: I think you officially de-lurked when you posted your first fic, didn't you? :-)
