As you can see I havn't been a cheerleader for a long time.. So I train with the b-team.. the newbies! My problem is that I'm 5.7 and I really want to be a flyer, not because its cool to be on the top or something. But I want to, I'm very flexible so if I get a shot I will do my best!

Another problem is that the other cheerleaders is very small, so they only use the thin and little ones... Thats not fair!
But if I learn the techniqies, shouldnt my heigh be a problem or what? What can I do to make my coach to choose me to be a flyer?

I need advices from more expereinced cheerleaders, hope u can help me =)
IM DESPERATE FOR SOME HELP!

9) What's Your Favorite Tumbling Pass? I'm not much of a tumbler, I'm more a main stunt girl. Not hard and I can do harder stuff, but I lovelovelove doing forward walkovers lol. I love learning new tumbles too.
10) What's Your Favorite Stunt? Scorpion-Scale-Arabesque-Full sequence, reloading into toe-touch basket toss. I also love bow & arrows.

I was a cheerleader for 7 years when I was younger. Now that I'm in my thirties, I never though I'd be doing this again. But I found a group of awesome girls and joined up with the Gotham Girls Roller Derby JEERleaders. Basically, we're "punk rock" cheerleaders for the NYC Roller Derby team. We do a dance routine at half time and next week we're headed to Vegas for the 2nd Annual United Roller Derby Jeerleader Dance Competition! What we do is a lot different then what a lot of you guys do, but we're always looking to incorporate "real" cheerleading moves into our less traditional routines. So I thought I'd join this community to see if I could learn anything from you guys.

OH, and hey, if anyone is around Vegas (or knows anyone in Vegas who would be interested) and wants to come to our competition (21+ only...sorry :( ) see the flyer under the cut!

CheerSport 2008

Here are the first shots from CheerSport 2008. Again this year I had the pleasure to watch the University of Western Ontario's Level 6 squad do their thing. After last year, I was really looking forward to seeing them again, and they did not disappoint!

These guys had some insane stunts. Two fliers crossing each other, looking like they're running through the air. Flips that were just stunning to watch. A base-to-base cartwheel-like move. Incredible tumbling runs. Just fun to watch!

PS: In true LJ form, I sent in a report that there had been some spam in this community and that the maintainers appeared to not have logged-in to LJ in years, and LJ said, "you're right, so now you're the maintainer." Okay... but with the exception of removing obvious spam, I can't imagine making any changes, unless anyone has any suggestions.
