Blergh.
Today was a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day. Despite this, I'm not in such a bad mood. Just annoyed.

I could go into the details, but it doesn't very much matter.

The thing that upsets me the most is that Sr. Alphius died on Monday, Marie Horvath went on Wednesday, and Sr. Alfred is going to pass soon. I still have the list I made of which vegetables Sr. Alphius liked for her salad in my purse. And I just took Sr. Alfred upstairs from the dining room last week.

"it's shaped like a hammer."
HAI. So, I decided that I'm not going to post ALL of the pictures, since there's an insane amount. I had requests for: Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis, Joss Whedon, Amanda Tapping, Richard Dean Anderson, Richard Hatch, etc. I got all of them! And some of Jonathan Frakes, Robert Picardo, and that guy from Torchwood--Captain Jack? Is that it? IDK. Anyway, here we go. Oh, and, um, this is Day 4 because I realized halfway through that these were the wrong pictures. SO. I'll post Day 3 tonight.

Thumbnail my ASS!
If your thumb's fingernail is long enough you can use it for quickly and harmlessly disconnecting that little jumper.

Yeah, right! None of this disassembly shit is as easy as it looks in the instructional videos, which is not entirely suprising. But both my thumbnails are now all scratched up from try to "gently remove" the wire. No, the thing does not just pop out like it does in either of the videos. ITS STUCK!! GAH!!

Don't tell me I got this fucking far...spent all that hassle trying to pry the Mini's case open only to be stopped by some battery wire that should disconnect "quickly and harmlessly" ! Grrrrr

Edit: Yeah, it took me having to wedge a little flathead screwdriver into the thing to pry the wire connector out!

Stay tuned for future computer repair rants. Getting the frustration out of my system helps me focus more. Oh, and my comment notifications aren't working, but I promise to answer comments later after I have hopefully successfully upgraded that computer.

Edit 2: Guess who just broke off her airport antenna!?!?! MEMEME!!! Oh well, who needs wireless on a desktop computer anyway. :S Its ethernet for this baby.

Edit 3: I REALLY hope the loud noises the CD drive is making while reading the install disc is normal and not due to some sort of internal damage I may have inadvertently caused while opening up and pulling apart the inside of the computer. I'm hoping it only sounds loud because I still have the case off and there is nothing to buffer the noise. It was such pain in the ass to get the case off I'm making sure everything is in order and working before I put that thing back on.

Oh, and I did try to put the airport antenna back on cause I think I figured out where it should go, but it wasn't fitting into place and I didn't want to risk screwing up the computer even worse. I never used wireless on the Mini anyway...and now I never will.

0252: What job and What picture(s)?
I'm getting paid $20 for doing nothing. Well, just doing what I normally do - my daily routines are not interrupted.

I'm just babysitting a nine year old boy. It's way too easy.

On a different subject, I seen (believing something) the one picture(s) that made my skin crawl. Nothing nasty, per se. It's just... yeah.. icky.

See it Here - I'm not uploading the images!

Yes, they're SFW.

Ship Meme
Because everyone's doing it...

Name a fandom you know I'm into and I'll tell you the following:

One True Pairing Ship:
Canon Ship:
"If this happens I'll stab my eyes out with a spork" Ship:
"You are one sick bastard" Ship:
"I dabble a little" Ship:
"It's like a car crash" Ship:
"Tickles my fancy but not sold just yet" Ship:
"Makes no canon sense but why the Hell not" Ship:
"Everyone else loves it but I just don't feel it" Ship:
"When all is said and done" Ship:

Oh, definitely. :)

One True Pairing Ship: Hades/Persephone - I love this whole story. The way I see it, Persephone falls in love with him, and really comes into her own in the Underworld.
Canon Ship: Zeus/Hera - I like these two together, even though Zeus tends to get on my nerves. Maybe I like that Hera keeps taking him back? That says a lot about her.
"If this happens I'll stab my eyes out with a spork" Ship: Since they all seemed to hook up with each other...I'm not sure.
"You are one sick bastard" Ship: Artemis/anyone - That's kind of the point of her, after all.
"I dabble a little" Ship:
"It's like a car crash" Ship:
"Tickles my fancy but not sold just yet" Ship:
"Makes no canon sense but why the Hell not" Ship:
"Everyone else loves it but I just don't feel it" Ship:

The time has come....
I've been putting this off for a few weeks, but the time has come to replace the hard drive and RAM on my Mac Mini. I had said that I would wait til I got voted off of [info]laura_lims  in case I fucked up the computer so badly that I couldn't make icons, but I ended up lasting longer than I usually do. I just submitted my icons for the last challenge on Wednesday, so I have no more excuses to procrastinate.

Speaking of [info]laura_lims , the voting for the final challenge is up, so go vote. Unlike normal lims voting, in the last challenge you just pick the icons that you like most and don't have to leave neg comments, so its not nearly as hard. :o)

But back to my computer woes, as I was backing up my files before taking everything apart, I was reminded yet again that my external hard drive not very reliable. If I try to save large amounts of files, it won't be able to copy the files over and get an error message. And then everything will go funky with the files that are already on the hard drive, like files that are in a folder will appear outside of that folder and will not open with I click on them. Or I will click on a folder and the list of files on the drive will shift and change. Or I will loose already backed up files when my new backup fails. Usually unplugging and replugging it works, but tonight, it was especially uncooperative, which is making me question whether I want this thing to serve as my back during the hard drive swap. So now I really think I need to get a new external hard drive. :-( Which means I have to spend even more money in my attempt to upgrade this computer....still cheaper than buying a whole new computer, though.

Anywho, I don't want to wait to order a new external hard drive on-line, and am now debating which one to buy. I've looked around on-line and have narrowed down my choices to two decently priced hard drives available in local stores from brands I recognize that are NOT Western Digital (that's the brand of the crappy hard drive I already have).

What external hard drive should I get?

Toshiba 160GB USB 2.0 Portable External Hard Drive from WalMart for $96.87

SimpleTech - 320GB External Hard Drive from Best Buy for $109.99

You're paranoid. Just use the external hard drive you already have
0 (0.0%)

The Toshiba one is cheaper, but the Simple Tech one has more room and I can "grow into it" because my new internal hard drive is a 200 GB one.

Never mind, I just remembered I still have a 200 GB Hitachi External Hard Drive from the lab sitting on my dining room table under a pile of papers. Its not mine so I cant keep it, but it can serve as a temporary backup during my hard drive swap. Wish me luck and keep your fingers crossed that I don't mess up my computer so much that it is unusable. :-( I'm actually a bit nervous that I am going to screw this up. Its gonna be a lot more complicated than replacing the hard drive on my MacBook was. Not to mention that I'm also worried that I'll screw up the backup as well.

DON'T. GIVE. UP.
OH MY GOD. I WILL BE LEAVING MY HOUSE TO GO SEE I WANT TO BELIEVE IN LESS THAN 12. HOURS. HOLY SHIT.

My dad refuses to let me see the midnight show. I wanted to SO. BAD. To exprience it with all these others fans, how amazing would that be? It's such a wonderful and beautiful piece in television history, really, it is. You can't say that about many shows, but you really can say that about The X-Files.

Anyway, so I am seeing the 10:15 AM show tomorrow. It's the earliest they have at the theater near my house. I am leaving at 9:30, do think that'll be early enough? I REALLY NEED OPINIONS! Was the theater packed when those of you who have already seen it went? It's a fifteen minute drive, but I'm so scared I'll get there and will have to sit in the front or something. I'm thinking that maybe it'll be nbd because it's such an early show, but it's also opening day, and FUCK. I am so nervous! And excited! AND JUST SO MANY EMOTIONS!

Today I was at the mall with Kelsey and we were sitting in the outside seating area of the food court and these two girls were sitting in the inside area and guess what? One of the girls got up, and guess what was on her back? Well on the back of her shirt, lol. MULDER'S POSTER! And it said "I want to believe" under it [but not on it, lol. like it was the poster with the words under it.] AND I WANTED TO DIE. And then the OTHER girl stood up, and she had the same shirt! And then they turned around and there was a picture of David on it! And it said something like, "I belive" or something, I couldn't read it. So I was like to Kelsey, "OMFG BRB" and they were leaving and I ran inside and died and I was like, "OH MY GOD I LOVE YOUR GUYS' SHIRTS!" And they were SO CUTE and all smiley and flaily and stuff and they were like, "You're the first person to say that today! Thank you! Are you seeing it tonight?" And I told them no but that I was earrrrrly tomorrow morning, and they told me that that sucks, and how excited they are, and I agreed. They asked me how long I'd been watching it, becuase obviously I don't look 20 or whatever, and they were at least 20, probably older. So I told them not very long, about a year, and they both had been watching since they were kids. And it was SO MUCH FUN and I just love seeing fangirls IRL. Because it never happens, and when it does, I get all weird. Like one time I saw a girl wearing a Dunder Mifflin shirt and I stopped like, dead in my tracks and I was like, "I LOVE YOUR SHIRT." And she was like, "Uh... Thanks?" But these two girls were so much more fun and SO sweet.

I'm going to go delete all the pictures off my phone so I can have enough space to bootleg my favorite scenes. :D

LMAO. LMAO. Everyone else's answers are, like, the same. Mine are so bizarre.

I'm afraid of other people that have their umbrellas open. (It's really irrational, but I'm afraid the pointed ends will hit me in the eye). And I'm afraid of walking in front of someone pushing a shopping cart. (I don't want them to hit the back of my ankles.) And I'm afraid of people swinging things, like their keys on a lanyard. Though, I am working on that one.

Takes deep breath
Well, after a bit of thinking and procrastinating and forgetting, I finally told Eric yesterday that I had decided to teach a portion of the Introductory Microbiology course as he had suggested a few weeks ago to get more teaching experience.

I spoke to the lady in charge of teaching the course this morning and she gave me her tentative syllabus and briefly talked about the portion I would be responsible for teaching. She told me about all of her policies for the class, the rules she has and why she has them, but said that this is a learning experience for me and I can choose to do somethings different if I want to, but just to make sure to put it in the syllabus and tell the students EXACTLY what is expected of them upfront, or there would be hell to pay from whining, pissed off students. The class is predominately non-microbiology majors that are pre-professionals (aka heading to med school, dental school, pharmacy school, etc) and about 10% of the students are cut throat and cheaters.

I'll be teaching the 3rd part of the class from October 17 - November 7. Not quite as long as Eric had told me...he was thinking I'd be doing it for a whole month, but this is just how the classes course work is broken up. I'll be putting all the lectures together myself and have some flexibility in the exact information I want to cover, as long as I cover the required chapters. I also get to write the test all by myself. There are two sections of the class and one is during 1st period, which means it starts at frakking 7:25 in the morning. And for a late night, non-morning person like me, that's gonna suck, but I can adapt.

And since I am teaching the 3rd part of the class, I will have the opportunity to sit in on some of the classes and office hours of the main teacher so I can know what to expect when my turn comes up. Its really not as bad I was expecting. I was afraid that I would have to teach earlier in the semester and not have as much time to prepare and that it would be a longer period of time, but we shall see how it all turns out.
