Our directory lists the sort of people you see running the one punk store in the neighborhood, as well as merchants who vend at ren faires, gothic events, pagan gatherings, horror cons, fetish nights, outdoor festivals, and the like. All scenes are welcome. Posts about the latest developments in creative fashion, the ongoing folly of Big Business desperately grabbing for street cred, new designers you've just discovered and adore, consumer discordianism, places you love to shop, and other random commerce-related weirdness are welcome! Also feel free to post info helpful to small-biz merchants. **PROMOTION INFO** This journal is open to merchants who want to post sales, site updates, and new merchandise, as well as seek information on small business questions or just network with each other. (If you want to be listed in the Chateau's merchant portal, please read our FAQ and email us through the site.) Small press publishers, indie filmmakers, and 'zinesters may also post their projects. However, PLEASE read the rules below before hitting the Update button: 1. Keep your postings to once every 2 weeks. Posts that have less than 14 days between them will be deleted. And don't post the same stuff twice. 2. We like to think of this community as a page torn from an indie fashion magazine -- if you have an item you want to promote, post a picture so we can talk about it! Links by themselves are just boring! 3. Posts for selling items are limited to those with online storefronts, business endeavors, or at the very least, original work or new stock -- don't post secondhand items that you had no hand in creating or deconstructing. "Look at these handbags I made -- what do you think?" or "I've started carrying Catherine Coatney in my shop!" is OK; "I'm cleaning out my closet and look at all my junk" is not. (Exceptions may be made for merchants who specialize in vintage clothing.) 4. NO AUCTIONS. AUCTIONS WILL BE DELETED. We've seen too many fashion communities get overrun to the point where the word "auction" has turned into a fnord for us, and it's no fun to page through posts that have expired, especially when someone's idea of "goth" is a worn-out Old Navy top that happens to be black. So no ebay or any other auction site, and no posting items that are "ending soon." 4a. If you're using ebay as your storefront, you may post items for straight sale from your journal, and reference your profile (which should have your ebay store link in it.) Do not link to ebay when you post to this community. Sorry, but we gotta be consistent. 5. Sellers using etsy.com and rubylane.com as their storefronts are welcome to promote their goods with direct links to their shops. Merchants selling through LJ are OK too. | ||||
