Hi everyone.

My friend and I are upstate NY travel nurses who want to take a 3 month assignment down in Charleston. We want to rent a really cute/trendy apartment or house for a short term lease, and knowing nothing at all about the area we were just wondering where the hot spots are for young professionals in this city. We don't know where we'll contract yet either...it seems like MUSC and Roper are the two hospitals I'm coming across in my travels...does anyone on here have some feedback about which hospitals are the best for nurses?

We're excited to come down and experience this beautiful city!! Thanks in advance for your feedback, we really appreciate it!!

As for employers, I'd check out Roper before MUSC. I work at MUSC and it just seems like all the nurses are always stressed out. If you're looking for an easy 3 months...

As for trendy places to stay at, EVERYWHERE in Charleston is upgrading it seems, so it really wouldn't be hard to find a place. I'd look in the West Ashley or James Island area in particular.

You might also see if the VA hospital has anything available - even for short term, I hear it's pretty nice to work for the government.

Both MUSC and Roper are good hospitals. I enjoyed working at MUSC the most because the staff was really great. My cousin worked there for 2 years before she started travel nursing (she's in NYC now, actually, at presbyterian in manhattan). She worked nights and absolutely loved it there.

Try to stay away from Trident. I guess it's not so bad for 3 months, and there are some really great nurses and techs there, but I have issues with their policy. I've also seen things done there that I don't agree with.
