I know I already put out about it, but hell...
iwrestledabearonce will be playing The Oasis in Charleston, SC on Tuesday, April 14th!
We've already got one local band, Belligerent, confirmed to play and we are looking for more local metal talent to step up and step in for this AWESOME night!
I do have a line another big show coming to Charleston, that's geared toward all the rock fans. It's sure to be exciting! ;) |
|
First, check out The Digitel. It seems to be quite neat.
Second, I'm a proud apatheist and I wish more people would embrace it and not cover up who they are when it comes to standing on your own mental and moral foundations!
Here's to all of you free thinking individuals out there!Current Music: Jello Biafra & The Melvins - Plethysmograph

| » off-the-wall question |
Has anyone in this community ever heard of, or know anything about, a small restaurant on 17-A in Moncks Corner called Subhaanallah African Cuisine? I'm always interested in trying out new ethnic restaurants but don't know anything about this place other than its hours (apparently open M-Sa for lunch only, 11-3). I can't find any references to it on the internet so I'm guessing it's either really new or really under-the-radar. I know of it only by chance...saw it one day while driving through Moncks Corner.
Thanks in advance...

| » Question for you all. |
What's your opinion of our local Congressional Representative, Henry Brown, and one US Senator, Lindsey Graham, staunchly opposing using the Naval Brig here for housing "enemy combatants and the like" from Guantanamo Bay?
I think it's just more useless politicians trying to sidestep an issue. Spineless fucking gasbags, but that doesn't surprise me. I'd vote to use the Brig to house them. But that's just me.
We've been having terrorist suspects incarcerated here already. Anyone remember the names Padilla, Hamdi, and al-Marri? Hell, the last guy is still there as far as I know.
With budgets sure to be cut in coming months and years, wouldn't you want to be an IMPORTANT asset to the Committee that signs the checks and keeps your base open? Call me crazy...

| » Random Project - Any Help Would Be Appreciated. :-) |
First off, thank you mod for letting me post this... :-)
I'm making this traveling notebook for my son, and one for my brother. I'm pretty much trying to find, one or a few people from each of the 50 states for this notebook (well, both notebooks). They both travel together and will be passed on to someone else in the USA so postage costs shouldn't be much when posting out again. What I'm looking at doing is having everyone put a state map postcard, or a descriptive postcard from their state - so it has the silhouette of the state with the state bird, flower, something like that... write about your state, what you like about the state, what your life is like... add photos, and just plain be creative with the books... when you've put in your entry and your happy with it - I'll give you the next address which will probably be in a neighboring state and you send it onto the next "host". You can write the same in both of the books... that's not a problem at all... :-) I've been rounding up people for the books, but they've just been sent out today to Washington (from Australia)....
So yeah, if anyone would like to help that'd be great and contact me by commenting here, email at sara.ringham@gmail.com or just message me on here and we'll go from there... if you have any questions let me know as well - it's after midnight so I'm sure I've missed out on something... thanks for helping anyone that is interested in helping me out!

Paula has contacted the pound in person, Charleston County Animal Control, the microchip company, her vet, Campus Security, Craigslist, and is papering the area with 50 of these fliers.
If i personally receive an update, I will share it here.

| » Introductions |
So I know I've been lurking in this community asking all sort of questions but now that I'm here in Charleston, let me introduce myself. My name is Uyen (pronounced Wen). I'm 25 and I am in the culinary arts and baking arts program at the Art Institute of Charleston. I love to cook and bake (obviously). I like trying new restaurants and since I'm new in town every restaurant is pretty much new to me. I also like exploring new places and learning new things. I've been here for about a week and haven't really done much exploring since I've been pretty much unpacking this whole time. I've made a few friends but I could always use more. Anyone want to be my Charleston tour guide and show me around? Also if anyone want to try different Charleston restaurants with me just leave me a comment. I hate to eat alone.

| » I'm running for Congress. |
I'm running for Congress.
Looking at the candidates for the 1st Congressional District of South Carolina, of which I am a resident and voter, I'm not saitisfied with either option. I want a new choice for my fellow South Carolinians to have to represent them. I think I'm up for the task.
No candidate for the office impresses me or even meets my criteria for being an upstanding member of the House of Representatives. It's time to move beyond Democrat and Republican and realize that there is no difference between those two false foes who keep the power away from the People.
With that in mind, I ask for you to write in my name on the ballot, November 4th, for those in the 1st Congressional District. My esteemed opponents and I do not share the same vision for America. I would like to see a Nation where the citizens can make the most of their own lives as they see fit. I do not want arbitrary standards imposed upon the livelihoods and pursuits of our State's citizens and fellow countrymen.
I understand that a few of my ideas may seem radical to a few, but rest assured it's in the best interest of our Nation.
As your elected official in Congress, I will work tirelessly to restore liberty back to this beloved land of ours.
I will work to put our Nation back with a stable currency and shore up our economic value with the Dollar combined with economic workshops for educating more of our citizens about how our monetary policy works. Our citizens need the tools for understanding our economic problems and just what their root causes are.
I will work endlessly to insure that are men and women in uniform have all the tools they need to defend our Nation from all threats to our liberty and sovereignty. I will work for our veterans and active duty personnel who deserve and require nothing less than the best in care and treatment. These brave men and women have sworn to put their lives on the line for all the rest of us. It is time we return the favor and take care of those who should never have been forgotten.
I will do my best to return the basic freedoms of choice to every citizen. A government should not have the power to restrict consenting adults from carrying out matters of personal choice. This is why I will work for the decriminalization of prostitution, as well as the decriminalization of marijuana.
I will be the taxpayer's advocate in doing my best to limit and eliminate wasteful government spending. The Federal Government does not need to be in the business of propping up cowgirl museums, paying for tattoo removal for prisoners, or any other pet project. If it is not defined in the Constitution as a mandate of the Federal Government, then the burden and cost will return to the individual States.
I trust this message finds you in good spirits and I hope for your support as a Write-In Candidate for the 1st Congressional District of South Carolina. I humbly ask for your support as you go to the polls on November 4th. Please vote for Ronald House as your Write-In Candidate for the 1st Congressional District of South Carolina.
Thank you.
-Ronald House

| » Voting. |
Contrary to what the mainstream media "reports" to you, the elections that matter most are in your home districts, your backyards.
Local issues effect you on a day to day basis as opposed to who occupies 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue at the given moment. Does the Executive Branch matter? Absolutely. Does it matter absolutely? No.
I'm eager to hear anyone's take on the local/state elections here in the State of South Carolina and beyond.
It still amazes me that so many people will turn out to a vote for an office that isn't even done by popular vote in the first place.
However, all the action of the local races such as State Representatives and those who represent in the House on Capitol Hill are merely a sideshow these days to who will be the face of Western Civilization and Culture.
Remember when the Senate was selected by the State Legislatures? My, how things of changed, yet soberly have stayed the same.
So, how about it?
Where do you stand on your choices for local office?

Hello...
My trusty 1997 Toyota Camry is not acting so trusty as of late. I'm pretty certain I'm going to need to have my alternator replaced and am wondering if anyone knows of any reliable mechanics who won't take me for a ride (pun intended).
I don't know too much about cars and don't want to be duped or talked down to, just because I'm a girl.
Any recommendations?
