hi everyone! i just began browsing through livejournal again and i joined this community to suppost chan marshall and her amazing music and because i wanted to ask a question. cat power's music is such an inspiration to me and just recently i've gotten the chance to see her live in detroit and even the chance to meet her in person. i've been thinking about getting a tattoo soon and i know i'd like to incorporate a lyric of her's. in the end, it will have to mean something to me but i was wondering if any of you have a favorite lyric of chan's to give me some ideas? thanks!

So, with the whole Chan cancelling things left right and centre and no one being 100% sure as to what's going on;

Does anyone have any idea what happened to the UK date? I think it was only one night, and the ticket company informed me it was cancelled... But I have heard nothing about if she's gonna re-schedule.

Any ideas?

I have a question in hopes someone might be able to answer for me.

Cat Power is supposed to play in Chicago next month, and I've really been thinking about going. I live in eastern Michigan, so it is about a five to six hour drive away if I decide to go. I really would love to go, but the only thing holding me back is that someone told me Chan is infamous for cancelling her shows the night of a concert. How lame it'd be to spend money on gas, a place to stay, etc. and to find that I wouldn't even be able to see her play. Can anyone tell me if this sounds true, or if she cancelled a show on the night you were supposed to go?

I REALLY want to see Cat Power at the moore in Seattle, but with the ticket master charges it's 70$ for me and my husband to go. Does any one think it would be sold out the night of the concert? or can you purchase the tickets ahead of time? anyways, still 23.50 is so much for my poorness... I have wanted t see her for like 4 years now though. The year after I moved away from my home town she played the town over... sad! and when she was near me when I lived in san diego it was a 21+ show and it was like a month to my birthday... *sigh*

I love it! First listen made me think it was a little... I don't know... It's weird hearing Chan so produced, what with the band and everything.
Chan with a brass band! Who'd a thunk it.
But it's definately grown on me... It's got an overall much happier feel than maybe her earlier albums, 100x more upbeat than You Are Free and.. That makes me feel good, that Chan is making music like that =)
Her voice is still... Gah, you gotta fucking listen to it.

Anyway. I'm still more than excited about it's official release, I'm almost dissapointed that it leaked, I love going out on the day of a release and buying the album but... Yeah, having it is better.
Of course, i will still buy the album. If only for the sleeve!

i made a stupid mistake. i live in indianapolis and bought a ticket for the columbus, ohio show not realizing she was playing a show an hour closer to me in illinois, and on a day i don't have to work. so rather than take off on short notice, i bought a new ticket for the champaign-urbana show and have been trying to get rid of the columbus ticket to no avail. if you're at all interested, i'm selling it for face value ($15) even though i had to pay all the extra ticketbastard fees. at this point, i can either ship it to you express mail/overnight/2nd day (you would have to pay for this though), or if you live in columbus or nearby, i can meet you halfway in dayton (it would have to be on monday). again, the show is this tuesday. id hate for the ticket to go to waste. let me know if you're interested. my email is blurredline@yahoo.com. phone # is quicker though: 317-225-8296
