Braving the baseball crazies to go to liadan_m 's house for the evening. Can't decide which projects to take, so I'm taking the majority of the ones that are in current progress. Ha!

Delta or Northwest or Orbitz deleted my flight from Detroit to Atlanta like a bunch of dooches and I made the executive decision not to get stuck in Detroit for forever. So, I'm here until Thursday, which is the earliest Northwest could get a flight for me from Champaign to Jacksonville. Unless i wanted to have a 12 hour layover in Detroit. Which is unacceptable. I don't know. I'm pissed a lot.
I will murder some people if my flight gets screwed up again.

i let lily out on the back deck.
i opened the screen and she happily with a meow of job galloped out onto the tan wood.
i watched her bask in the sunlight with a smile in her cat eyes.
i stretched up my arms, closed my eyes and let sun shine down on my face and wake me up. the cool morning breeze filled my senses.

this all just happened within the last five minute and within ten minutes of me dragging myself out of bed.

two things: i had forgotten what it felt like to write poetically with words flowing through my veins
and it's moments like this that make summer worthwhile.

Recalced my grades and found I'm actually getting a bit above a 92% right now. My quizzes and homework scores brought it up. But that paper is gonna be el bastardo. Spanish test tomorrow. Chem lab today is all about calorimetry which I whipped the pants off in physics. All you have to do is think of how the energy moves and 90% of the confusion drops out. But it also means we’re gonna be there all three hours waiting for water to heat up and/or cool down, and the lab is gonna be really hot and stinky from burning peanuts. They REALLY need to add extra air conditioning to all chem labs. Oh, half the class is gonna completely flounder because the lab’s instructions are basically “Here’s the materials you have availible. Design a procedure to find out how many Calories of energy are in a serving of peanuts.” Oy. And of course, the homework we have to do in class before the lab. It’s all Hess’s law stuff, which basically means some computationally-hard algebra dealing with abstracts that a lot of people don’t understand and still get wrong when they do. ie. we’re gonna have to sit around for a LONG time while people fight with the math. Sigh.

Oh, and if you haven’t seen the most recent season/miniseries of Torchwood, “The Children of Earth”, ... damn. You should. I’d recommend it for a hugo or nebula or whatever award seems most appropriate. really kickass, old-school sci-fi.
