FS: 2003 Infiniti G35 Coupe 6MT
New to the list, new to the area
Hi, I'm moving (very) soon to the Chambana area, and wanted to introduce myself here - for info, for new friends, for whatever. I'm coming from Seattle (last 4 years), and Boston before that (10 years). I grew up in Rantoul / Chanute (6th-12th), and went to college in Indiana (RHIT), so this is a homecoming of sorts. Is anyone from Rantoul, late 80's era, on this list? A very short bio blurb is available at my blog. What brings me back to Illinois? A job at Wolfram Research. My wife and family (6 cats, 2 dogs, no children) are following soon, so any realtor / neighborhood / moving advice would be appreciated. I'll be looking for short term (month to month?) rentals: Very Short Term single/studio/roommate (in C-U, MTD accessible), to hit the ground running; plus Medium Term house rental, that will allow the animals; And eventually a home... Can anyone point me to good lists-of-links for newcomers: What's to see and do, where to go, for darn near anything; that would be appreciated! I'm sure we'll be missing fresh seafood, and sushi, and Trader Joe's, and Whole Foods, and Etc, so local substitutes will be needed ASAP. What's the nightlife like? I quickly scanned recent entries, and was pleasantly surprised to see the recent post for the "Gothic Prom 2008." What's the scene like for "regular" goth/industrial events or nights? Also, are there good links or info for the local (rock) music scene? I hope to dust off the guitar and amp after moving out; For the last four years, I've hardly played at all (ferry commuting sucks up a lot of time, and living on an island is rather isolating). Ok, I'll keep this short. You can also reach me on email at erb at chezbrodeur dot net. Thanks for the help! Free Eye exams for working service dogs
I just saw this article that states local service dogs can receive free eye exams. Just wanted to post this in case someone and their service animal can benefit from this and haven't already heard about it. For more information and to sign up for the exam (must register before May 8) go here: http://www.acvoeyeexam.org/ |
