| About: | Challenging God This is a community for discussion and criticism of Christianity in all its forms. It is a forum for those who hate Christianity (although not a hate group), those who wish to promote or defend their Christian faith, and those who want an informed discussion on the benefits and flaws of Christianity. Content This is a place to ask questions. It is a place to voice opinions and complaints. It is a place to share insights and ideas. It is a place to discuss and debate. This is NOT a debate community! Debate is welcome here, but so are other kinds of discussion! Homosexuality (or GLBTism) and Homosexual Marriage are Dead Horses here and are consequently BANNED. Any post about either topic will be deleted and the person who posted it will be BANNED. Rules Basic decency and respect are required from all our participants. We permit some strong language, but we do not tolerate vulgar or gratuitously graphic content. Remember that you are talking to real people with real thoughts, concerns, feelings, experiences, and lives outside of the computer. Try not to be a jerk. For Christians We hold self-professed Christian participants to a different standard. We expect love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.1 Believers are called to not only contend for the faith,2 but to put on the Lord Jesus Christ3 and be ambassadors for him, promoting reconciliation with God.4 Remember the first two commandments.5 So please try not to be boastful, arrogant, rude, self-seeking, irritable or resentful.6 If people are to come here and clash with or learn about the Christ and Christianty, it stands to reason that the Christians in this community actively demonstrate what it ought to be about. Changes I realize that the tone of this community has changed significantly since 2002, and it has been difficult for some to understand those changes, or keep up. The community reflected my attitude. Since then I have surrendered to Christ and allowed him to start making the changes in me that I need. This community has evolved with me. But while I have always tried to keep personal to me, my objective has remained the same since its inception: To facilitate the clash of opposing world views in regard to Christianity, foster dialogue and understanding, and see the challenges met, questions answered, and complaints heard. I believe we can all do this with a more respectful attitude than I began with. I hope everyone can agree and get along fine. A perfect example has been made by the first person to make such a post, essentialsaltes [see below]. He offered his stance and arguments for and against the argument, thus making a persuasive case for his view in a non-threatening manner. Every Thursday, the moderators will make a post inviting you to volunteer your nomination for a vote we'll make the following day. You'll have the option to be a permanent volunteer or just for that week. Friday we vote for who will be the poster. Do NOT vote for yourself! You will be disqualified for the week. The election results will be announced sometime Sunday, and the post should be made by Tuesday. If you get voted in, you are not eligible to make another Alleged Bible Contradiction until the fourth week after your post, so there must be three between your posts, at least. On that week, your name will be added back to the polls. And just to make things more interesting and fun, from this point forward, if anyone makes the assertion that "the Bible is filled with contradictions" and the moderators find out about it, that person becomes an automatic weekly volunteer nominee. If they get voted in and fail to make a post, they will be banned for a week. This should make for good discussions. Remember to follow the other rules of the community, and most of all to have fun.Edit 3-8-05: It's unreasonable to discuss many alleged contradictions in one thread and it defeats the purpose of having something we can index.
