If only his head didn’t make him feel so in adequate. Sir Nicholas poked gently at the remainder of his neck as he gazed over the top of the bookshelves. There she sat, floating halfway up the library wall, upon a ghostly chair that hadn’t existed for nigh on two centuries. The pages of the books that she read were as ethereal as the beautiful hands that turned them. Old habits die hard – or never die, in this case. The Grey Lady was oblivious to Sir Nicholas’ gaze. If only he were as enthralling as those tomes. Somewhere behind him the Baron snorted in amusement. Heading towards the Grey Lady, he glanced back at Sir Nicholas and gave him a pre-emptive sneer; he was barely halfway across the library before she noticed him, the prospect of his company already drawing a smile to her face. Crestfallen, the Gryffindor ghost momentarily considered pointing Peeves in the direction of the Slytherin common room. Another time, perhaps.
