Heyos! Dunno if I've posted here before, but I've been lurking for some time. For xmas I made a rosary for a friend. There are similar things out there, but I used unusual weaves for the cross and the large beads, so thought you might find this interesting. And it's purty. ^_^ ( Pixies! ) |

First Post to this Community
Kind of an introduction/stuff I made, still need to take pics of other things as well, but im kinda lazy when it comes to that. Well i have been mailling on and off for years, first got into it from a friend who was into re-enactment fighting. and I always had a fasination with armor, swords, weaponry, and such. Well I just finished a Roundmaille necklace for a friend of mine. It is 16ga Stainless Steel, w/ 7/32" ID, it made a nice tight weave, but not so tight that it lacks flexibility, it has a nice weight to it as well.  |

greetings all
greetings all, i have a question about aluminum rub off... goal is to stop it. question: how? situation: i have 1k of black anodized aluminum scales from TRL; however the anotizing is only on one side (looks amazing btw). i want to do anodize the scales the rest of the way to stop the oxide rub off (don't want to have black skin after wearing) anyone know how i would go about doing this? also without ruining the existing finish is there another method i can use besides anodizing? |

So i'm thinking of placing another order for rings, since i'm really enjoying making things and i think some smaller rings would be good for more feminine looking items (as y'all suggested). I originally bought "Anodized Aluminum Jewelry Kit - 16g 5/16'" set through The Ring Lord. I like using the colors, and found it was really helpful when learning, 'cause i could follow better. If i'm mainly doing jewelery things (chokers, bracelets, i'd like to try handflowers) what size rings should i be looking at? Should i stick with aluminum or go for another material? I don't know if i'm ready to move into the very tiny stuff yet. I did end up making a Persian weave correctly, and gave away a bright aluminum collar and a purple bracelet. I'm still wearing my 'mistake' that seems to look good. :) |

work of art or frustration?
So halfway through a planned choker i realized what i'd been doing wrong with an attempt at a Persian pattern. Somehow on two sides i got it right and the other two i got wrong. I kept doing the wrong way to complete it, rather than pull it all apart and start again. So that was frustrating, but kind of interesting. At least I was able to eventually figure it out, and it doesn't look bad. EDIT: Pics under cut ( Read more... ) |

Hi all. So every few months i get the desire to learn some new skill, usually of the crafty variety. So being a geek, and seeing some chainmail bracelets I wanted, I said "I could do that" and got a beginner kit from The Ring Lord. Soooo, what are good beginner projects for a girly sort? Are there patterns for things? My greatest downfall is a lack of creativity and artistic ability, but I can DO things quite well. I could last night i enjoy making things, even if i am slow as all get out :) |

Hi all! I have been fiddling with chainmail on and off for the past couple years, but I have run into a little issue with the thing I am working on. It started out with me making a small sheet of european 6 in 1, just to see how it looked. I ended up putting it down for a few months, but I just picked it up again and decided I should join the ends and make it into a pouch. So i joined, and now for some reason I just can't figure out how to do the decreases to make the bottom of the pouch. Can someone dumb it down for me? The rings are 18 gauge galvanized steel with an ID of 1/4", if that makes a difference. Thanks |

I got a few photos from ![[info]](http://l-stat.livejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif) scary_mary. I made the halter and skirt set for her to go to Dragon Con back in September. She is going to make a few for my web site as well. I don't know who took the photos of her at the convention, but they did well and she looks quite nice! Rings are 14g 1/4" Annodized Aluminum and Neoprene (same size). ( photos behind cut - they ARE worksafe ) |

heart locks?
I'm looking for a heart shaped lock and key, a real one, that works. I've done web searches, but I can't seem to find exactly what I want. (Which is something like this (only not from Tiffany's because, well, $125 is way out of my college student budget! I definitely want it silver or aluminum(or similar color) so it can go with a chainmail necklace I'm working on. Any suggestions? Happy crafting! |

Hello!
Hi! I'm Libbey, I'm a 25 year old senior in college in Virginia. Over the past two weeks I have been learning to make chainmaille jewerly. The main reason I picked it up is because I wanted to make something for my boyfriend (I made him a Full Persian bracelet and he only takes it off to sleep *beams*). However, it's turned into an obsession! I didn't really expect to get so wrapped up in it (or should I say, chained up? ;). So far I can do: * The Full Persian* Harvest Moon* The 1 in 4 SpiralI've been looking online for more patterns that I like. What are your favorite patterns? I found this on a jewelry site and I want to make it. I can't find an actual pattern online for it, but it looks pretty straight forward. I'm thinking put a ring inside another ring, then put a third ring inside both of those, make a bunch of those and then connect them with tiny rings. I'm not so good with figuring out gauge yet (and I'm kind of dyslexic and it's hard for me to estimate size), and I don't really know what size/ratio rings would work well for this. Any suggestions? Some friends got me started with rings to work with so far, but I plan on ordering more. So far it looks like I will be ordering from The Ring Lord. From the other sites I have seen, it looks like their prices and variety are the best. Have you found this to be true? Thanks! (cross-posted a few places) |

I am a very beginner at chain mail...I've messed with jump rings to try and fix some times I have. And I have a few patterns that I am working on translating. So eventually I will be posting my own stuff to share. I also have 2 pieces that I bought up on ebay for resale. A hand flower and an anklet that are adjustable, but are still too big for me (hence, learning to better make my own to my size).
