| Get Sorted |
| Before you can participate in the main community, you must first be sorted into one of four houses. They are Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin. You will post your sorting application here for the students to vote on. Once you are officially "stamped" into your house, you may join the main community, your house community, and any of the classes that are available. If you are stamped as a "Squib", that means we couldn't find a place for you, but that doesn't mean you can't try again. Please see the rules for more info. |
| The Rules |
- When you apply for sorting, remember: don't be a BUTT, LJ cut! If you don't know how to use an lj-cut, see this page for instructions. Also use cuts for possible spoilers (see our spoilers policy here), large graphics (measuring more than 400 pixels on any one side), or large bodies of text (more than a couple of paragraphs).
- Do not make a comment on an application until you are sorted and stamped, or you will be squibbed. This includes your own application. (You can comment all you want after you've been stamped.)
- Do not make disparaging remarks about the applicant, even if they are your best friend. If you do, points will be deducted from your house.
- Do not push other people for votes, harass the faculty or students, period. Otherwise you will be squibbed and banned for a month.
- Please DO NOT delete your application if you are being squibbed. If you are having coding problems, we will help you through them, but do not delete your application unless we tell you to (or we do it ourselves).
- While we don't expect you write long paragraphs following the answers to your questions, we do expect you to elaborate as much as possible. Imagine a "why" at the end of each question. This will allow us to know you better and place you in the correct house. And while we understand that mistakes happen, please try to use correct spelling and grammar. Spellcheck is your friend but rereading it yourself can pick up the mistakes that Spellcheck won‘t pick up like there and their.
- This is an all-ages friendly community. REASONABLE profanity is ok, but derogatory or hateful terms are not. This extends to LJ user names as well.
- When casting your vote in a sorting please put your vote in the SUBJECT line of your comment (your vote being one of the following- Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, Slytherin, or Squib. Please do not use hybrid house names like Gyffinpuff or Slytherclaw.) You must also state your reason for voting the person into that house, along with your name and house in the comment.
- For question #16 (on the sorting application), please first put the name of any creature (ex. flobberworm) in the Harry Potter world to show you read these rules. You will be automatically squibbed if you do not.
- If you are officially stamped as a Squib (by the headmistress), you will have to wait 5 days before re-submitting your application.
- After about 10 members or more have voted on your application (or 5 days have passed, whichever comes first), you will be sorted into a house (majority rules, stamper tie-breaks) and stamped (final comment in your app). The stamp should tell you what you need to know after that!
- If you do not follow the rules, you will automatically be squibbed, no questions asked.
- If you are still squibbed after three applications, you must wait a month before applying again. We don't want to turn you away permanently, but if you can't get a stamp after three tries we want you to really look into what is wrong with your application.
- The Headmistress and Deputy Headmistress will ban those applying to the community if we feel it is necessary, but we will give you a reason as to doing so. This is a rarity however, so don't freak out ;)
- Again, please put a magical creature in the answer to #16 so that we know you've read the rules. You WILL be squibbed otherwise.
