The walls are a faded grey; the floor tiled and gleaming under the bright lights. Stripes in a variety of blazing colours snake around the walls and floors, some kind of simple navigation system. The green stripe is the colour of grass, and tracks under your feet and through a doorway towards another small room. There is no furniture; nothing to tell one hallway from another. Just the stripes and the droning, bored voice coming from the overhead speakers. The voice at the locker is more cheerful, a personal response. It starts the moment you leave the green line to reach the softly glowing compartment. "Good morning. You have been assigned to apartment block 029#31IX. Use the yellow key to lock and unlock your quarters. Use the red key to access your credits for personal purchases. Elevator use is free between residential and recreational levels, so please do not hesitate to drop by and try the facilities. You will find all of this information and more in a copy of our newsletter, which you may pick up on your way to the elevators. Orientation begins at 16:00 hours. It is now 02:12 hours. Follow the navy stripe, and have a nice day!" The navy stripe passes. A loud chime; doors whir open ahead of you. The drugs wear off as the elevator starts to descend. |

Believing they have been brought here from their own worlds, their powers blocked while they adjust to the new environment, your characters must go through training and rehabilitation under the supervision of the speakers and cameras of the city. In actuality, the City is a prototype artificial environment run by a small group of scientists. Their goal: to confirm whether completely artificial beings can be made to live in a functional society. Your character is a clone, a genetically modified being made to look and feel like a fictional character to make use of a loophole in human rights. Memories have been implanted, traits have been meticulously copied from the source media. Feelings, bonds, conflicts; everything down to favourite colour is as your character 'remembers' it. |
