    Anyone here?
Well.. hm. I'm new here, so I may as well introduce myself. I'm a single male, almost 25, that lives in Colorado Springs, CO. I do not want kids, never have wanted kids, and am really sick and tired of dating people with kids. I am a car and computer enthusiast, gamer geek, and have various other hobbies I'm free to chat about. I might be poking back into the dating scene, but around here it's almost impossible to find anyone but single moms or ultra-religious girls who insist on 'letsgetmarriedandhavebabiesNOW!' Personally, I'm around here to date; I'm not a big fan of getting married at all, anyway.

So, anyone want to chat a bit? :)

I had a bad experience on a dating site recently, and I think that you folks will identify with me. First of all, it clearly states in my profile on this site that I don't want kids. That's a non-negotiable. I even used to state as part of my profile that if someone sends me a message, but his profile says "Yes, I want kids," then I won't even bother replying. I took that out of my profile because it seemed too unfriendly and harsh. I'm thinking of putting it back because I'm tired of getting emails from men who state in their profile that they definitely want kids.

About a week ago, a man sent me a message, and it was very interesting. However, his profile said "Yes" to the "Do you want kids?" question. Normally I would have deleted it without replying, but for some reason I decided to reply and say that I was tempted by his message, but I don't want children and he does, so we are not a good match. I guess I wanted him to know why I was saying "no thank you."

I couldn't believe what I got back! He replied with this very rude message that basically told me that a single person has no right to decide whether or not she wants kids. According to him, that's a decision that a couple has to make together! And I quote, "Talking to me would not get you pregnant." Honestly, I don't see the point in communicating with someone on a dating site who has answered "Yes" to the kids question. It's a waste of my time. I don't want kids, and that's a non-negotiable.

I immediately blocked him. Unbelievable. The nerve of him to tell me that a single person has no right to decide whether he or she wants children or not. Is it or is it not my decision?? (That's a rhetorical question, as I'm sure you can all tell.) It's been a week, and I'm still quietly seething with anger.

For those of you who are on dating sites, how specific are you in your profiles about being childfree? What's a way to phrase it that doesn't seem bitchy and unfriendly?

Hi. I'm recently single (due to my CF decision) and I thought I see who's out there. I'm glad to see that I'm not alone. I'm not looking to date or anything just yet, but finding some like minded people might give me hope for the future. I know I've limited myself to an incredibly small portion of the dating population by choosing this lifestyle, and I'm not all that social to begin with! Anyhow... I'm a 31 year old male living in upstate NY. Cheers.

Childfree Pride Weekend occurs every year on the weekend of September's fourth Saturday. Childfree Pride Weekend is to childfree people as Gay Pride Weekend is to gay people.

    Proud to be childfree,

Summer is here! Sorry to some ranters
I love the summer b/c it means that my best friend takes her son to her mom's for a few months & I get to spend more time w/her and have more uninterrupted convo time. I know it's selfish & she's depressed and misses her son, but it's so good for them to have a break. And although I feel bad that she's depressed, I am also relieved that he's gone b/c he's just so annoying & loud & obnoxious. She & her kid are together all the time, which isn't at all healthy to me, but whatever... And no one can tell her anything. But she is working & will be able to make money to continue to provide for him.

We are going to go out Sat. & see James Marsters play. I can't wait. It's on Long Island @ some place we've never been B4. Hopefully he will make lots of gestures and maybe even do the Spike voice(his character from Buffy).

I apologize if I seemed to attack anyone who did any child ranting. Gods know I do plenty of it. I have this annoying thing where I'm always trying to see (and get others to see( someone else's side of things.

    Single & Lonely
I'm so sad and I've been dumped b/c of my Vlad the Impaler necklace. I can't talk to my best friend b/c she has a bi-polar problem child. I can't see my cat b/c he lives w/her & her annoying chld. I am so upset right now. I guess the only remedy is to go to the pharmacy & pick up my Zoloft so I can feel OK again. The problems won't go away but I'll better be able to handle them.

    Friday's Dr Phil
Did anyone else see the young mom with the screaming daughter on Friday's Dr Phil show? I just wonder if anyone ever told her it was ok to not have children. She was obviously overwhelmed and regreting her decision to have a kid, which brought on guilt because "you're not supposed to wish you hadn't had children". She spoke of resenting her daughter and how her life ended when her daughter was born. Dr. Phil brushed it off as post-pardum depression, but in reality that lady was seeing the truth. The truth no one tells you is your life does end when you have children because now your entire existence is about your offspring. I'm glad I was smart enough to figure it out myself.

Well, not if the childfree person is a Republican.

    Boxer 's Low Blow

The junior senator from California ap parently believes that an accom plished, seasoned diplomat, a renowned scholar and an adviser to two presidents like Condoleezza Rice is not fully qualified to make policy at the highest levels of the American government because she is a single, childless woman.

    This is so great!!
Im so glad I get to vent and grouse about all this kid stuff to somebody. I have no one else to vetch to. My other non-childfree friends take all my stories more humourously. But now I have a venue to really bitch and complain about all those adorable things that children and their parents do that are absolutely maddening.  So that's my story.
