This is a community for childfree people to post pictures showing off their pets, ask pet care questions, maybe vent a bit and serve as a fostering/pet placement bulletin board when needed.
This is the place for any pets whether they have hooves, paws, scales, or claws.
It must be stressed that if you find your pet is seriously ill (life threatening) and needs emergency medical care that you seek the help of a professional.
The Animal Rescue Site was launched in July of 2002 and has generated millions of bowls of food for rescued animals since then. With your help, many more animals will benefit in 2006! It all depends on the number of people who visit the site.

Here are some starter rules and they will be added to and/or changed when the need arises.
*No off topic posts. No posting topic like things that are off topic but you include a remote snippet of something that could be considered on topic. Your post will be removed at the discretion of the moderator(s).
*If you want to plug a community permission MUST be obtained and must be relevant to this community or your post WILL be removed and you will be warned. This also includes any off-topic post. If you post spam promoting some lame ass rating community or anything off-topic that is lame ass, the following three strike rule will be skipped and you will be banned and post removed.
*Three strike rule applies here unless more drastic measures are needed. You will get three warnings and then you will be banned.
*Try to be polite to other members. Permission will be grated to rip someone a new one if they are blatantly stupid as in break the rules in a most crappy manner like spam this place, post pics of kids manhandling pets, etc., or ask for donations and someone finds you're more than capable to taking care of your own responsibilities as I can't stand stupidity myself. BUT, please see the next rule for clarification!
*If you are not one to bear witness to someone's situation, don't be a judgmental jerk; one cannot make assumptions from a small glimpse into someone's life via a snapshot on the web or a post in the community. If you have questions for the OP, be polite with your inquiry, you catch more flies with honey after all. Conversely, if someone suggests something or asks a question, being defensive and irrational makes you look like you are incapable of acting like an adult and have something to hide. Simply take it for what it is, that someone cares about your animals as much as you do.

*If you decide to ask for donations to help with pet care costs and you are in financial need you MUST post the name and number of the local vet who is handling your case as I suggest payments/donations for vet bills be handled directly or for verification purposes. I don't want any members being duped. Suggestions are welcome on how to handle this. I'm thinking maybe future moderators can assist with this somehow. Again, suggestions are welcome.
*New rule! You do not have to own a pet to appreciate animals. Feel free to post pictures of baby animals that aren't even yours if you want.
*New rule! Know of some worthy organizations involving animals that need help raising funds for animal care (not PETA, I have my reasons for not allowing them, just watch the Penn & Teller B*llshit ep on them)? Have a fostering/adoption notice that needs to be seen? Post it!
*New rule! We will not act like children and engage in trolling. Such posts encouraging this will be deleted on sight, no questions, no exceptions. There is enough negative in the world and we won't have it here. You may post news articles or notices that may have some negative but only if it's in the context of helping or in bringing about awareness. You may post here looking for emotional support should there be health issues with your pet, goodness knows it's needed in a time of crisis.
*New rule! Language, language, language! Since this is a place I want all CFers to enjoy you may only use the slang term "sprog" to refer to children. Just looking to keep the peace here, folks!
*New rule! If someone makes offensive commentary or posts, please bring it to the moderators attention and do not delete comments. If the person is being a real jerk, I'd like to be able to see what is happening and whether the three strike rule should be waived and the offender banned.
*New rule! This place is here to talk about how we love animals...not about how tasty they are with a lemon butter sauce! There are cooking communities here on LJ that I am sure your thoughts would be appreciated, but **not here** where they are PETS and NOT FOOD. If you engage in harassment such as this, three strike rule be damned, I will ban you as soon as I see it.
Do you HAVE to be childfree to post here? It is preferred (ok, modifying this, yes, dang skippy you must be childfree to be here) as we don't want off topic posts like how cute your kids look with your pets because quite honestly we don't give a damn how cute *you* think your kids look while they are mishandling your pets.
If you have questions or concerns please email the maintainer. If you spot any rule violations it's appreciated if you let us know.
If the maintainers will be unavailable for a lengthy period of time a post will be made and a moderator will be appointed.
