We have been informed by our vet that our 19 year old Cio-Cio-san is not long for this world. His kidneys are in full shut down mode and all we should do is tend to him till his day to day life is to the point where he is not wanting to eat or drink anything, that we bring him in and let him go.
I want to take him in on Monday and let his main vet do the deed but mom on the other hand will drag this out to when he is basically on death's door.
But we're doing hospice on Cio-Cio-san and also we're on death watch.
Here is a picture that I did a few months back when he was healthier.

deviantARTHe sleeps more and more now. We do wake him so he can eat a little food and have something to drink. I actually put a few drops of water on his wet food since he loves the juice and any liquid from the can's juices is limited to the first opening of the can and it gives him more water.
The whole family is tag teaming him, I deal with him at night with feeding him on his quilt that he sleeps on in my bedroom and tend to the box. During the day, mom tends to him when he comes walking down the stairs to tend to do his wanderings.
But now, he's just sleeping by the stairs not really wanting to come down. I'm wondering if the time is about to come for the decision to be made about him. But since Cio-Cio-san is my mom's cat, I can only suggest taking him in on Monday and letting him go, but she's the one who will make the final decision on if he is put down humanely or let him go on on his own terms. I am hoping that mom will make the decision to end it soon.
But we have had him since he was a six month old kitten who spent six months in a cage, walking on the cage not being a cat as he was a pet shop kitten who was for sale for $399, till they dropped the price to $99 and then we snagged him quickly. This is also the same pet store who choked a kitten with its collar, that kitten was bought by us that same day we noticd that his collar with his ID on it was too tight, we cut that thing right off of him right there in the store and berated them for not paying attention to the growth rate of the kittens to what their collars were. Jo-Jo the siamese cat never had a voice after that. His voice box was damaged for good. He died of a heart attack about five years ago. The pet store no longer sell live kittens or any live animals anymore. They now recommend people going to the shelter to get their pets.
