Persuing my old fundiemoo/hipmoo equivalency thesis again ....

Does it strike anyone else that the slogan 'use your breasts for the right reason' is incredibly sex-negative, biodeterminist, prudish and basically highly fundiesque in nature?
I wonder how many of them saw their breasts as non-sexual milk-jugs before having kids? My guess is not many.

A woman who isn't using her body for procreative purposes (and who is purposely partaking in sexual enjoyment or pleasure) is too liberated for these fools.
I spit on them and their decisions about how I should use my body.
Jesus, I think I lost IQ points typing that.
Gee, I must have been dreaming. I see the light now, women who do anything with their bodies that isn't meant to support men's production of as many children as possible are anti-feminist!
I know breastfeeding is normal. What I despise is how those who promote it feel the need to denigrate the enjoyable, sexual aspect of having boobs. My answer to those who tell me, 'Breasts aren't sexual," is invariable, "Well, honey, YOURS may not be, but mine certainly are."
The non-so-subtle implication of these slogans is that anyone who thinks of breasts as sexual is abnormal, immoral and WRONG, and anyone who doesn't breastfeed is less of a woman.
Haw haw! Joke's on them.
Wearing low-cut tops so the senior IT managers buy me drinks all evening.
*sigh* CF boobs make a weak woman.
So sex is unnatural and abnormal? Gah.
From The Naked Ape, by Desmond Morris. Emphasis mine. A very interesting book overall.
I personally get irked by both sides--the people who think that boobs are nothing but auto-refill baby bottles, and the people who think that boobs are some be-all of their identity as a "sexy" woman. Who cares what purpose you assign for your boobs? Just do what you want to do with them and stop worrying about everyone else's breasts.
A nice and soft place to have your baby snuggle up against, for example.
Now don't you come screaming and yelling at me ... o.O°
I mean, don't we all enjoy the softness of breasts?
We lesbians and heterosexual men that is.
Ayup.
It's a sort of
virginmother/whore dichotomy, don't you think? No, boobs aren't sexual or aesthetic at all! Their sole function is for nourishing offspring, and you're a sexist pervert if you think otherwise! I don't think that's any better than insisting that breasts are solely sexual and that breastfeeding is somehow wrong.Seriously though, what's the subtext there? "Don't be like those little whores who flaunt their breasts around. Use them to be a chaste, nurturing mother!"
