Update on Duh Assault post from yesterday

  • Dec. 12th, 2005 at 1:57 PM
Contacted the security managers today, went in and had a meeting with one of the three big bosses. Lo and behold, who comes out with him? The good security guy who was helpful in the whole incident yesterday. He sat in the meeting with us, and turns out had alerted this boss with an email first thing this morning saying that this was probably going to come to him. I'm thoroughly amused.

So I gave my report of what happened.. the manager took it EXTREMELY seriously. He said "We are a privately run business, and the owner directly signs our paychecks. There is no place for that kind of behavior in this company, however, and we will not stand for it. I will ask Phil (the shitty supervisor from yesterday) what his side of it is, but quite honestly, you have a strong case... and even worse for him, you have a strong witness.. the employee who was also there. Can you please write out everything that happened after we're done here and I will be submitting it to the top two managers along with David's report (David being the good guard again) and we will be in close contact with you regarding this, so that you're not being brushed off. But if you could get it to me asap, it would be appreciated so that no one lessens the severity of the situation with the xmas rush and such. There is no excuse for that behavior."

He also encouraged me to file assault charges on the guy.

I went to the police station afterwards to do that.. the cop was also a parent *sigh* and was trying to explain why he thought the guy would do that.. and that it seemed like I had to be coerced into filing a report and that he wasn't justifying the guy assaulting me though. I figure rather than filing full out charges and wasting time in court, we decided to just make a file for this guy, document everything that happened, and if he ever assaults anyone again, he has a known record of it and will have his ass nailed to the wall.

The cop also asked why I didnt' hit him.. when I let him know about california laws regarding martial arts training and how I have to issue a warning before I strike someone.. he says "Not in this state. If someone grabs you again while you're here? Slug him one. Don't lay the boots to him and use excessive force, but feel free to nail him."

Anyone want an update on what happens to the security supervisor if I find out in a few days?

This should go into the memories as a resource for what to do when parents attack.

Thanks for sharing, and I definitely want to hear updates! :D

A verbal warning as in "Do you want karate?" :)

Nah, since I'm trained in shaolin and some wushu and hung gar, I suppose I'd have to pull a Keanu Reeves instead. "I know kung fu....." (end dumb voice).

Essentially the reasoning behind it is that once you reach a certain point, your hands and feet are considered weapons, and when you strike someone without warning, it constitutes as assault with a weapon. @_@

Stupid law if you ask me. People take martial arts to fucking defend themselves.

Not all states have that, and in fact, it might even be archaic by now.

*LMAO* I laughed so hard juice came up my nose at that. XD!!!!

Thinking about it now? If he had done it today instead of yesterday, I would have hauled off and smashed him one in the face. As it is, much as I hate children, I kinda felt bad that they had to see their parents behaving like this. Especially considering the fact that the original child who I tripped over was 3 or 4 years old. A sprog that age does NOT know better than to stand there, and it is the parent's responsibility to instruct them to the better and keep them close and away from the traffic path like that.

Needless to say, I'm probably going to get flamed by all the CFers who are more hardcore than me (which is impressive considering how I'd consider pushing an irritating child into a box crusher), but really, afterwards, I felt bad for those two kids. Because of their parents ignorant behavior and refusal to parent, the kids were getting punished and couldn't see Narnia.

At the same time though, the guy probably learned a lesson too. I rechecked the times and such, and turns out the show he was in was NOT a matinee.. so not only is he out closer to 48 bucks for tickets, but also the 20 for concessions. *LOL*

Dunno. Flame away for me feeling sorry for the two kids there. They were behaved.. the parents were morons.

Nah, i can sympathise with that. I don't like kids very much, but I don't like to see anyone punished for the actions of someone else.
The sad thing is the parents won't learn, because they sound like the kind of people who know everything and woe betide the person who tells them otherwise. They'll continue to act like asses, continue to make their kids suffer for it, and hopefully one day their kids'll have had enough and will bundle them off to an old folk's home.

And yeah...I hate the way people always seem to be more rude/aggressive when you're mentally unprepared for it. I guess part of it is that when I'm in a bad mood and not prepared to take any bullshit, I radiate a "don't fuck with me" aura and people may sense that, hehe.

I was prepared for it mostly, however it was more strange that the guy was about 60 pounds lighter than I was. I mean I could have breathed heavily on him and he would have been blown back. It's just a matter of having restraint. New mall opens, the theater's first weekend open after being a month late, it's very upper class in the building and I figured I'd demonstrate more class than him... sadly to say, I do kinda regret it now. *lol*

And yes, for once, the kids in my story were well behaved, and there was no way for me to reward them for it without letting the parents' actions go untouched. I agree with you though. I hope they grow up to be bitter towards the ones who spawned them and ship them off to some third world version of an old folks home. I'm not gonna get pissed off at a 3-4 year old for not knowing that standing at the escalator exit is bad... it's the parent who needs to be told. :P

Yeah, let's see updates.
If the kid was that small, wtf were they doing taking it/them to see Narnia? Wouldn't a lot of that scare the fuck out of them? Can kids that young even watch such long movies without getting cranky? What they need is the usher to stand guard against infants and very young children coming in to see long, sometimes-scary movies.

For the children.

Why yes, it does state that Narnia may not be suitable for children. Youngins of say the tooth fairy believing age and below not advised :D

Some cops are cool :) I remember after a robbery at my last workplace, one of the investigating officers telling us if we ever felt like smashing a few wine bottles over a robber's head, they'd turn a blind eye :)

Well, this cop tried to bingo me too, which is the downside. He was trying to justify WHY the guy assaulted me.. because he was trying to protect the honor of his wife whom I said such mean things to. *rolls eyes* Then asked me if I had kids.. Oi. I just kinda brushed it off, but then he was like "Well when you have them, you'll understand what I'm talking about."

BLAH

I'm all for defending one's partner, but you didn't do anything wrong or say anything rude. The fact of it is, they probably know damn well they're bad parents, and most people's reaction to being caught out acting like an idiot is to create a defensive shield of anger and try to make it seem like your fault, because you pointed out their obvious failings as human beings.

I've defended my partner before, but the person who did it was wrong in the first place. Sean's a pretty sweet guy and wouldn't hurt a fly, but man he was pissed when that guy grabbed me. :P He just didn't run up to do anything because he knows I'm quite capable of defending myself, though he was intent on calling the police if the guy had succeeded in grabbing me again.

Have you ever considered training in Jiu Jitsu? I'm just fondly remembering how many different ways I was taught to break every bone in someone's arm from the starting position of an arm/wrist grab by an attacker, hehe >:)

I've taken 12 years of Shaolin, Hung Gar and Wushu. :) Plenty of grappling in those. Hehe

I was never much of a fan of up close fighting though. I'm all legs. It's where almost all of my muscle mass is. I'm told I have calves like a hungarian shot putter. *lol*

Ah, righty. I'm not familiar with them, I assumed they were mainly linear. I should look into them actually, my main strength is in my legs, just a shame my weedy arms aren't in proportion, hehe...

Whereas I wish I had less muscle (and a bit less padding since I still have some more that I'm working off, however I lost 21 pounds last month.)

Wushu and Shaolin are pretty circular, with lots of traps and such. Hung Gar is a bit more blocky/linear and is more for people who prefer to remain more grounded.

Please keep us updated, I hope the stupid breeders won't decide they want to counter sue for emotional distress or some trumped up BS should you decide to file charges in the end.
In the long run it was better you didn't hit back in this case, it made you appear much more level headed than the idiot that assaulted you.
Best of luck in al this and may the holidays hopefully be less stressful for ya.

I'd like to thank you so much for your support in this. It's people like you and the rest of this community and my friends who have made me feel a lot better.. cuz today, my brain is going "WHY THE FUCK DIDN'T YOU JUST COLDCOCK THE SONOFABITCH?"

I decided against filing charges in the end, however the incident is documented on the guy's name/ssn/address and such, and if he attacks someone again, it will be pulled up along with any other info they come up with, so it will be shown that he has a history of this behavior.

I honestly didn't feel like wasting the court's time for some scratches.. if I was bleeding or had broken something, maybe.

Yeah. I'm not nailing him JUST for bingoing me.. but being condescending, unprofessional, offering false legal advice, AND discrimination (he laughed because I said I'm gay.. and not a 'ha ha, that's funny laugh' but a discriminatory one..'

So as I say.. BURN BITCH. :P

Yeah.

Well. The security isn't the theater's security. It's mall security, since the theater really doesn't need their own and they're based in a mall. My complaint isn't with the theater AT ALL. In fact, the management of the theater was beyond helpful and made sure I was alright, along with giving me free passes to return next time etc, and making sure the man and his bitch wife and kids were evicted promptly.
