So while I've been sent on this nonsensical mission to retrieve sinew from Gorillas in Mistvale, I ran across a party of alliance. A rogue (45) a druid (42) a mage (35) and another druid(39). We get in the usual trading of gestures and mooning, the rogue it seems was not a party member as he took off after skinning the dead gorillas. Being the Horde member I am, I snaked several kills away from them (ah, magely damage..i love you so) much to their consternation. So the 42 druid flagged herself and started taunting me. And I turned away! But did I back down? No. This is a timing issue, boys and girls! So while they're attacking a gorilla (keep in mind the rogue is gone and the 42 is the only one flagged) I line up a pyroblast at the druid's head. Bam! it critted for 750, engulfing her in flames. Some starfire came down, but it was too late, I nuked her ass into oblivion. Judging that the two remaining would flag themselves for revenge, I targeted the 39 and polyd him just as he flagged himself. so he's a sheep. the mage doesn't flag himself as he's already getting killed by the 2 or 3 gorillas that our battle has aggro'd, and the druid is still a sheep. then he became a sheep on fire. Then a dead druid. Hahahaha. victory all around! But, being the experienced troll I am, I knew better than to wait around. I headed back to booty bay, knowing that I was going to be hunted down by the 42 druid. I'm running on the path, and I catch her on her mount out of the corner of my eye, just as she slips into stealth. I'm just around the bend from booty bay when I get a knife in my back. ow. mother fucker. so my natural reaction is to blink (it's my reflex key on my keyboard), and blinking takes me to the entrance of booty bay. which is protected by a truce of some sorts, because the two goblin bruiser guards go and kill her as i watched from the entrance. Never has there been a more marvelous sight.

Mage
Crowd control is number one. In an organized raid, if there are 3 mages, there should always be 3 sheeps if the right types of mobs are there (obviously you can't sheep 3 guys when there are only 2 mobs or if the mobs are unsheepable). Mages need to keep track of who you sheep. Best way to keep a mob sheeped is to resheep it before it breaks out. If that mob breaks out of sheep early, you should IMMEDIATELY resheep. If you don't, the healers get owned. Warriors are NOT responsible for holding aggro on the mob that the mage sheeps. If it's hard to keep that mob sheeped all the time (and I know it is very hard sometimes when there are 15 people and 4-5 mobs running around), if you have to spend half of your time watching that mob instead of spending mana on fighting, so be it. I would rather have a mage do crowd control than to have him output dps. If someone breaks sheep consistently, tell the raid leader.

Rogue
If you die in an instance from a non-aoe mob, it's your fault. There is no reason for you to grab aggro over the warrior. If your dps is too high, sit back and watch the paint dry or the grass grow. You grabbing aggro over the warrior means that the priest will have to heal you. Priest healing anyone that's not doing aoe or a warrior is unefficient use of mana. You are in an instance for two reasons, to sap someone when possible and to do dps

Hey all,
Im stealing this from my main guilds website. They have a ton of info on how to run instances and raids properly. Im gonna post pieces of thier texts every few days so we can all get a hang of it better.

Warrior = Tank, taunt, hold agro or die trying.
Mage = Sheeps, crowd control, damage or die trying.
Rogue = Sap, damage without over agro, or die and be laughed at.
Priest = Heals, crowd control undead, or die trying.
Druid = helps heal, off tank if you are good and when it's needed.
Hunter = shoots arrow and kill runner quick.
Shaman = offtank, totems, heal yourself or die trying.
Warlock = summons, crowd control, SS a rezer, dot up a storm.

I know each class can do more than what I have listed, but these are requirements to play your class. If you go over your limit, I'm glad you are good. When you don't meet the requirement, don't take advice as an attack on yourself. You chose the class you play, if you don't like what your class do. Maybe it's time to reroll. Hence with this in mind, if you are a warrior, you can be blame for a priest dying. If you are a rogue and you die, it's the rogue fault not the priest. I know that shit happens, if a mage wasn't paying attention and didn't sheep and the non-sheep mob start beating on one person at a time till it kills everyone. Mage said sorry. I don't count that as a fault. However when you are playing and you messed up and don't say sorry and realize it's your fault, expect to be talk down to. Once again you chose what you play. If not, it's time to reroll. Any questions please post here. An officer or someone will post their opinion trying to answer you.

Warrior
If you are in a five man group, you are to hold ALL aggro. If there are 3 or 4 mobs, everyone is assisting and you can't hold aggro from the healer, you need to play better. I have been in raids where the main tank holds virtually all aggro at all time. I have seen a handful of warriors do this, so don't say it's not possible. If you're in a 15 man raid and there are other warriors there, there will always be 1 main tank that takes most of the damage and another tank or two that will tank single guys to help you. Warriors are normally the puller since they will develop rage faster this way. Warriors are not the main assist. You constantly have to change target to maintain aggro (if you're not changing targets to hold aggro in a raid, you're not doing it right). It would not make any sense for the entire raid to change target with you. This one is important...warriors are NOT...i repeat NOT...in an instance raid for DPS. Your dps contribution is negligible in my eyes. You are in instance raid to hold aggro and tank. If you are dishing out high dps while doing this, great. If mobs are on the healers and you don't care and you think your high dps should be praised, you played the wrong class.

If the healer dies, it's your fault. All the healers do is heal you. If you aren't holding aggro, that means that someone else is having to off-tank (who isn't a warrior) and grab aggro from the priest because of your n00bness. What happens then is that the off-tank (who isn't a warrior) eventually dies cause he doesn't have as much ac/hp as you do. This whole time that you're not holding aggro, the healer is healing the off-tank (who has less ac/hp than you), which is very inefficient use of mana. Therefore, priest has to heal a lot more on the off-tank than if he were to only have to heal you, therefore developing more aggro onto himself which will grab even more aggro from you which is just a nasty viscious cycle that leads to either the priest dying early and/or the raid wiping. If anyone dies first, it should be you. If EVERYONE is assisting and there are no patrolling adds and someone dies BEFORE you, you aren't doing your job.

If someone isn't assisting and stealing aggro from you, tell the raid leader. It's your duty to let the raid leader know who isn't assisting so that the raid leader can correct the problem. If you're the main tank/puller and people aren't giving you enough time to develop rage, let the raid leader know how long you want everyone to wait before they start attacking. In end-game instances, warriors are #1 on my list of priorities. In a 10 man raid group, if the healer is doing his job, the warrior is holding ALL aggro, and there is sufficient crowd control, it is damn hard to wipe.

Obviously Im not as stringent, and as long as there is a healer, and a tank, the warrior doesnt have to tank/ and the druid doesnt have to heal. But these things do give you a bit of insight from really really good people.

Ok, two things for this weekend.

1. Instances. Trying to hit gnomeregan and scarlet monastary either tonight or tomorrow. give me a heads up on some good times. These are for the 30 and up peoples right now.

2. For us people advancing too quickly, lets put a hold on the leveling for now. Lets try to cap us at 38 or 39 and let a couple people catch up. This weekend help with instances, pvp a lot, and farm lots of wool or instances for cash. But try to stay away from leveling too much, lest we leave people behind. We have a good setup when at least 5 of us are within 4 levels of each other. So attempt to please not hit 40 til we can get a few more past 36.

Thanks.

We need to figure out a way to streamline resource requests. Like donations to lower levels or something of the like...also make sure that no one has too redundant occupations...I could really use a good potions maker etc. Hopefully as soon as everyone gets close to the same level (as soon as the battlefields are up, i'm going to just run those constantly, i don't want to get too far ahead of everyone else) we can organize/try out different raid groups. i.e, who works well with who, etc. we should probably organize a way to help out lower levels in instances like WC or RFC. that way we don't gain any xp, they get a little from kills, but they finish quicker than 3-4 hours, get the items, and get the xp for the quests. So yeah. I think those're some things that need to be addressed.

Ask not what the horde can do for your guild, but what your guild can do for the horde!
