"IDAHO 2008 Multifandom Fic & Art Challenge"!

May 17th is a very special date for many people around the world – why you ask? Because it’s the Norwegian Constitution Day… nah, just kidding.

May 17th has been chosen as the day of IDAHO - an abbreviation of ”International Day Against Homophobia” - because on this date, in 1990, homosexuality was finally removed from WHO’s (World Health Organization) International Classification of Diseases.

About time, right?

The event of IDAHO is meant to emphazise that it is not homosexuality but homophobia that is shameful and must be fought openly to ensure respect and equality – no matter what sexuality you have.

In celebration of IDAHO 2007 I, [info]animimares, thought I’d ask people to contribute to a fic/art fest with the prompt "Understanding - it's misunderstood" (Laugh 'n' a Half, DAD) in mind. So I did, which led to this post. Since the support was far greater than I’d ever imagined, I accepted the help of [info]kawaiirishi to create this journal – a place to post the contributions – fic and art alike – made for the ”IDAHO 2007 Multifandom Fic & Art Challenge”.

Thanks to everybody who contributed.

Indeed, IDAHO 2007 has ended, but due to the success - considering the short time-frame - I will again this year post a challenge that everybody is welcome to respond to in the name of equality and awareness of hate crimes and homophobia.

Now it’s about time I tell you what this community is all about.

Rules?

There aren’t many, but they read as following:

1. All kinds of fiction are welcome. Poems, drabbles, long fics, short fics, fanfics, original fics, essays, letters, experimental, etc. As long as they are based on the idea of IDAHO and the given prompt.

2. The same goes for art. Drawings, manips, any kind of media, really – as long as its based on this year's prompt.

3. It's multifandom! All fandoms (and original fiction/non-fandom based entries) are allowed; meaning any character and any pairing - as long as it has relevance to the challenge - will be acceptable. However, Real Person Slash/Real Person Femslash is not allowed this time around, sorry.

4. Deadline. Please post your contribution at your preferred time between the date of May 1st and May 17th, 2008. Anyone who suspects they’ll be late, but still really want to contribute can feel free to contact me on sacellum at jubii dot dk and I’ll put you on the waiting list.

5. Please post your contribution directly to this community, [info]celebrate_idaho - however, you are free to cross-post it elsewhere, including the information stated below. Keep all contributions behind a LJ cut and state the appropriate warnings.

6. At some point after May 17th a Masterlist of all the contributions will be created in honour of all the work and effort put into this event.
