classes... what have you not

So my second semester with Quad C has come to a close and I am not taking summer school courses. Anyway I am having trouble in deciding whether I should return back in the fall or not. The problem is my GPA is really bad right now and I'm not sure I'm up to taking on a full load at this point. I was considering taking part time classes but my parents will never go for the idea since I need 12 credits to stay enrolled with insurance.

Since I failed Theatre with a D I was thinking about retaking the course again. I had professor connolly in the spring and I was told there was a teacher on the preston ridge campus that is supposedly easy??? I attend the spring creek campus so preston ridge would be a bit of a distance for me if I did go

Anyway I have a few question...
should I enroll in evening classes? (I'm definately not a morning bird and tended to oversleep a lot)

I know science is required.. and I would hate to take biology since I definately don't understand the concepts of biology whatsoever. Do any of you recommend any classes I can take in place of biology like the earth science courses with the study of rocks, and etc?? At this point I'm still a freshman since I dropped 2 of my classes which put me at part-time. I still need 11 credits before I'm considered a sophmore and I'm trying to transfer out in the fall of next year (provided that I actually go to school)

Anyway thanks!

Well looks like the semester is all over and summer is upon us! I am glad to see we now have 30 members, thats pretty good considering how I have done like no community promos. But I made us an icon finally thou! YeAh for the lazy moderator!

Anyone got any big plans for the summer? Or is everyone taking Summer Sessions? I find that May/Winter/Summer sessions are much easier than regular semesters, I love taking courses I hate in the quickie sessions so I can A) concentrate on the course and B) Be done with em a hell of a lot sooner!

I am hoping we can get the membership up to 50 people by the time fall starts, so everyone tell an LJ friend who goes to CCCCD to come join!

TTYL
~Mod Liz~

Am I the only one who LOVES this new policy of letting students with more credits completed register sooner? Cause I totally got to register on the first day and got every class I wanted! Even one with Mr. Yarbrough. It was such a relief because I needed all of those classes to get my associates by this summer!

Also, who in here is about to transfer to a four year school? I'm most likely transferring to Texas State in San Marcos this fall to study PR.

Walk for Farm Animals

This is not directly related to Quad, but it's a really good organization. If anyone is interested give them a call. They end up helping a lot of animals. Thanks!

Farm Sanctuary is a national, non-profit animal protection organization. Each year we rescue, rehabilitate and provide lifelong care for hundreds of animals rescued from factory farms, stockyards and slaughterhouses. In addition to operating the shelters, we work to gain legal protection for animals used in food production and to raise public awareness about factory farm cruelty and cruelty-free alternatives. The Walk for Farm Animals helps fund Farm Sanctuary’s rescue and protection campaigns.

The Walks are held around October 2nd in honor of World Farm Animals Day. Walks are generally 5k – 10k long (about 3 to 6 miles) and are often held in public parks. Walkers who raise over $100 receive exciting Farm Sanctuary prizes, so start collecting those pledges now!

Date:
Saturday October 16, 2004
Registration 2:30 p.m.
Walk 3:30 p.m.

Location:
Glen Coe Park

Contact:
Dixie Bambach
469-261-7215
dallas@walkforfarmanimals.org

hope to see you there

NASA MICROGRAVITY PROJECT

Did you want to be an astronaut as a kid? Ever wanted to experience weightlessness? Conduct experiments in zero G?
Today was the first meeting of CCCCDs NASA Microgravity Project team.
We only had 4 students show up. We need at least 7 to put together a team.
The next meeting will be next Monday (27 Sep.) at 2:00PM, room H130 on the Spring Creek campus (the Physics lab).
We still need ideas for experiments to conduct. We have to have our Letter of Intent to participate in the program submitted by 8 Oct., and our proposal for our experiment by 20 Oct.
Even if you don't want to fly the Weightless Wonder, you can participate in the program on the ground crew, helping develop the proposal, construct the experimental equipment, get the experiment ready for loading on the aircraft in Houston and collect and analyze the data and prepare the report.
Past CCCCD teams:
2003 - EEG Monitoring of Brain Activity Utilizing Virtual Reality Simulation
2002 - Effects of Zero Gravity on the Sphericity of Manufactured Metallic Balls (You can see this experiment sitting in the glass case outside the science dept. at SCC)

Hey!

Hey well I didn't realize there was a community for Quad C and I thank whoever started this group to let users be a part of this. Well I'm a freshman as one might expect but I try not to be annoying..
Anyway my schedule is:

Mon/Wed/Friday:
11:00-11:50 Comp/Rhetoric I (Professor Martin)
12:00-12:50 Amer. Gov.'t

Tuesday/Thursday
8:30-9:45 Intro to Humanities
10:00-11:15 General Psychology (Maynard)

I just joined the Campus Crusade for Christ on monday. Unfortunately since I have class the time they have their meeting I can't attend.

I'm wondering, would anyone like to be a pal? I don't mean to sound all dweeb-like but it's kind of weird being in college and having no friends to talk to. The friends I do have are in different classes so I don't run into them on a regular basis.

I want to get involved in a couple of things like the Quad C cinema so if anyone is willing to help me out I'd appreciate it! Thanks!
