Title: Tunes softly playing Author: Maaya Fandom: Criminal Minds Notes: Reid-centric, gen, post-Amplification (4x24), PG-or-thereabouts. The odd little ficlet that just poured out when I was in a mood a few weeks ago. Summary: Reid knows that time is considered a fundamental quantity.
( Reid knows that time is considered a fundamental quantity. )

1:40 pm - [Lord of the Rings] Back Again [Criminal Minds] With Feeling & Six things (...)
|

maaya1x2
|
I haven't posted anything in this journal for over two years. Admittedly, I haven't written much fanfiction the last few years and what little I've written has been posted elsewhere. Still, I thought it might be good to keep everything in one place, so I'm linking the stories from here.
Lord of the Rings
Back Again Filling in the gap in Pippin's story after the desperate battle at the Black Gate. Because going "back again" is a slow process. Written for the June 2008 challenge at the . Was nominated for the MEFAs '09. (I'm stupidly pleased because I've never been nominated for anything before.)
Criminal Minds
With Feeling Prentiss, Reid and knitting. Ficlet, Gen, G and shamefully fluffy.
Six things that Spencer Reid would like people to know about him (but doesn't know how to say) Gen. Oneshot, PG. Character sketches.

9:33 pm - [CG] "Orchid and Rose" (Clovis, PG)
|

hopechan
|
Title: Orchid and Rose Author: hopechan Fandom: Code Geass Rating: PG Warnings: None Word count: 6,000. What the shiiiiit. Music: "Sweet Esme" by Joanna Newsom. For: vicks111 on cg_flashfic, who wanted Clovis so bad she did a little heart. So I tried to respond. Comments: God, am I PMS'n or what? Because for some reason this fic gets me really emotional. DDDD= I dunno what it is, if it's that I'm listening to that song on repeat and it's so incredibly sweet, or if it's PMS, or if there's too much of my own relationships and fears and history in here or what, but somehow this story became deeply, deeply personal and UM YEAH. Jesus. Whatever. It's a story. This fic could be improved some - the build is wrong, and the ending could be strengthened, and I should really go through and tighten up the thematic elements to make them more consistent. But I really need to post this shit up so as to not be working on it at all times when I need to be doing phonetic analysis of early 20th century Russian poetry, and calculus. FUCK TEST TOMORROW, FUCK IT.
Summary: Being caught between greatness and goodness will tear you apart.
( She had pink lips and pink cheeks and hands that felt soft and fragile like flower petals. Her eyelashes were long and her eyes were blue and always open wide. Clovis knew a lot about her but very little of her, and he wondered if that should make him sad. )

 i. Aprés Moi...
Author: hopechan Fandom: Code Geass Rating: PG-13 Pairing: Gen(!!!) Warnings: Spoilers certainly for R1, eventually for R2. I'm gonna make at least an attempt to incorporate the canon backstory, though it might be difficult. LOL Marianne. Comments: ...Oh, Lordy. What am I getting myself into here? ...A some 50,000-plus word plotfic is what I'm getting myself into here. It's AU from the end of season 2, and will be...huge. Probably. Certainly more epic than this supremely boring first chapter would suggest. Also, if there's anyone out there who has a hunka hunka burnin' desire to help me out, I'm pretty poop with all visual media and I want to give every chapter a nifty header like the above, and it would be an awesome bonus if they looked good. So if any of you faboo artists out there would be willing to creatively tack on the header "Ys" to pictures that I send you, I would say nice things about you, and also perform sexual favors. Music: "Colleen" by Joanna Newsom. Summary: There's a city that stands at the intersection of her past and her future.
( 'Even tonight I can't pretend there won't be repercussions.' )

1:00 am - [CG] "Salt" (Ougi/Villetta, PG)
|

hopechan
|
Title: Salt Author: hopechan Fandom: Code Geass Rating: PG Warnings: Spoilers to episode 18 of R2 Word count: 7,000 (!!!!) Music: "A Nervous Tic Motion of the Head to the Left" by Andrew Bird. For: tungwene on cg_flashfic, who requested Ougi/Villetta. Comments: This fic should be better than it is. I have a completed draft of my first concept for the fic, which is where they meet at a restaurant, Villetta is cranky, Ougi is apologetic, they make up, etc., and I was going to post up this fic as an example of why sometimes you want to sit back and think and rewrite. In my head there's a city at night this fic sounded really good. It was solid and beautiful. What happened? It even has a solid start, and then it just...falls apart. But I've tweaked it endlessly, and the problems aren't resolving themselves, and I sort of want to move on to my psychophonetics C.C.-centric AU plotfic, so I'm afraid this is as good as the fic is going to get. D= "Lot's Wife," the poem halfway through and then again at the end, belongs to Anna Akhmatova, or maybe her heirs, because she is dead.
Summary: Seventeen years and seventeen miles from where it started, they meet again.
( It's not too late. You can still look / On the red towers of your mother Sodom, / On the square where you sang and spun, / On the barren windows of the home / Where you bore your dear husband children. )

11:12 am - [CG] "The House of Usher" (PG, Rolo-centric)
|

hopechan
|
Title: The House of Usher Author: hopechan Fandom: Code Geass Rating: PG Warnings: Spoilers for the early R2 episodes, spooooookiness Word count: 3,000 Music: "Magic Doors" by Portishead For: arence_heart on cg_flashfic, who requested (among other options) a Rolo fic. Or maybe a Rollo fic. How the eff do you spell the little bugger's name? W/e. Comments: I had a lot a lot of difficulty with this one. Rolo's a mystery to me as a character, and I went through a lot of drafts before hitting on the idea for this one a few days ago and pumping it out in a few (extremely sleep-deprived) days. It was originally supposed to be AU, but it twisted itself back around to a straightforward fic, and it was supposed to be character study but it turned out more atmospheric...Oh, well. The Haunted Palace and The Second Coming belong Poe and Yeats, respectively. Or maybe their heirs, because they are both dead.
Summary: Home is where your things are.
( It started with the sight of Lelouch examining a book before him, running his fingers over the raised bumps of the Braille letters with an uncertain smile. 'How odd,' he said, and then looked up. 'Rolo, isn't this odd?' )

3:01 pm - [CG] "Struts and Frets" (PG, gen)
|

hopechan
|
Title: Struts and Frets Author: hopechan Fandom: Code Geass Rating: PG Warnings: None Word count: 6,666(???!!!!???!) Music: "Ruby" by the Kaiser Chiefs. Thematically appropriate! For: realms_of_life, just 'cause I ♥ her, and because I know she sort of likes the Lelouch-as-a-musician trope, and because I feel like she could use something a little cheerful in her life. DDD= Comments: This one's old school. Quite literally. =D Anyway, the original concept was supposed to be entirely fun and funny, but a little bit of Lelouch being overdramatic and making himself and others miserable crept in. It happens. It's still mostly fun and funny.
Summary: Rivalz decides that the student council needs some distraction. Hijinks ensue.
( 'It's, uh, well, it's a game, a video game...but it's not going to be like that time I brought in Battle for Britannia IV, I promise, everyone's going to like this one,' he called over Shirley and Milly's groans. 'You get to be a rock star.' )

2:00 pm - [CG] "Hesitation Waltz" (Guilford/Cornelia, PG-13)
|

hopechan
|
Title: Hesitation Waltz Author: hopechan Fandom: Code Geass Rating: PG-13 Warnings: None. For once. Word count: 3,300(??????) Music: "Closing Waltz and Grand Finale" from Tchaikovsky's The Nutcracker For: bellumina on cg_flashfic, who requested this bomb-ass story. Well, sort of. She gave me four pairings, and after I tried and failed on the Lulu/Rolo and EPIC FAILED after working my fingers to the bone on the Lulu/Xingke, I finally gave up and went for the easy one. DDDDD= Comments: This one's sort of sweet and unpretentious. I'm not the happiest with it - it's not spectacularly written, and the ending's too abrupt, and I sort of overshot my mark in going for "a kinder, gentler Cornelia" all the way into "a kind and gentle Cornelia," which, LOL bad characterization? But by the same token, I'm not unhappy with it. It's sweet and unpretentious. I sort of need to write more stuff like that.
Summary: Cornelia, recovering from a ball.
( 'Honestly, simply declaring war would be quicker and would most likely cost less in the end.' )

2:20 pm - [KHR] "Snow White" (Gokudera, PG-13)
|

hopechan
|
Title: Snow White Author: hopechan Fandom: Katekyo Hitman Reborn! Rating: PG-13 Pairing: Gen, pretty much. Music: "Sacrifice" from the Buffy soundtrack. What's up? Comments: Well, folks, you begged, you pleaded, you drew awesome art and wrote awesome fic, and finally you managed to drag me into this fandom. So here we have it, the long-awaited fic...that's really quite mediocre. *Facepalm* I'm actually a little hesitant to post this, 'cause frequently my first fics for a fandom end up my best, or at least among my favorites. This isn't bad, exactly, but it's quiet, and it's unremarkable - maybe that's why I'm disappointed? I've been awfully showy with my writing recently. DDDD= Oh well. It is what it is. Word count: 829. Hardly even worth posting. Summary: On fairy tales, and on death and hope.
( Gokudera says nothing, and there's nothing in him except smoke. )

4:17 pm - [CG] Juniper (gen, PG)
|

hopechan
|
Title: Juniper Author: hopechan Fandom: Code Geass Rating: PG Warnings: Slight spoilers for R2 episode 7? I guess? If you squint? Word count: 2,400 Music: "Prospector's Quartet" from the There Will Be Blood soundtrack and "Language City" by Wolf Parade. For: kill_me_faster, because (a.) she was the one who first told me about Merlin's property of aging backwards, which inspired this fic, and (b.) because I think I have yet to not dedicate a CG fic to her even though she's not really...in...the fandom anymore. W/e. Love you Demi! Comments: You may notice some resemblance between this and a few other fics of mine - notably The Fool Ascendant (obtuse, overly symbolic, essentially plotless, pretentious) and Royal Portrait (anticlimax, pretentious). This is a coincidence. Anyway, this is based around the conceit (I think taken originally from The Once and Future King) that Merlin ages backwards. I sort of deliberately misinterpreted that, sort of along the lines of that one XKCD comic strip. W/e.
Summary: Guinevere and Mordred and living in the world.
( History's no truer for you, but at least it's simpler. )

Turnabout from the Balcony Day One: Investigation
Author: hopechan Fandom: Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Rating: PG-13 Pairing: Gen Warnings: Spoilers for the end of game 3 Comments: SO, UM. Remember how I started that genfic a while back? Turnabout Election? And it was...sort of interesting? Well, I was thinking to myself, "I'd like to do a couple of these, because it's good plot-practice even if it is only sort of interesting." So I started this one as a sequel to TE. And then liked this one way better than TE. So, sorry to those who liked the original story, 'cause you'll have to wait longer, I guess - TE is still planned as the second one in the series. So, with some degree of further ado, I present this still only sort of interesting fic that will get v. v. melodramatic later on. Summary: An uncooperative defendant, a mysterious victim, and some shady witnesses combine to make what should be a simple trial very complicated very fast.
( 'Thing is, this goes beyond this trial.' )

In the Hall of the Philistine King
1. The Thistles of Eden
Author: hopechan Fandom: Code Geass Rating: R Pairing: Kallen/Suzaku, Kallen/Lelouch, Suzaku/Lelouch, Suzaku/Euphemia. It's a love-Y in Neo Olde Tokyo!!! Warnings: Spoilers to episode 25. Comments: I'm hoping that I'll be able to keep up my interest in this until the end, because I have some interesting things planned. Of course, that always is the issue with me, isn't it? Anyway, re: the music: I'll be offering a new piece for download for each chapter, and I'm so pleased as peach with my music selections that that'll be good motivation for me. Music: Jeff Buckley - Hallelujah Summary: The soldier, the rebel, and the island of the gods.

12:54 am - [Football RPF] Homage to Catalunya (hints of Thierry Henry/Robert Pires, FC Barcelona)
|

stickmarionette
|
Title: Homage to Catalunya Pairings: (hints at) Thierry Henry/Bobby Pires, (fleeting mentions of) Xavi Hernandez/Javiola Saviola, Pep Guardiola/Luis Figo Characters: Thierry Henry, Robert Pires, Leo Messi, Cesc Fabregas, Frank Rijkaard and various other Barca players Rating: PG Summary: It’s been a fair few weeks, and yet he still can’t stop doing it – comparing everything, like a tourist, a visitor. Nothing fits quite right, from the language – echoes of Italian, but he doesn’t want to think of those times, not really – to the food and the style of playing. Thierry Henry struggles with his move to Barcelona, in five segments. Disclaimer: all made up, except for the facts. Note: Each segment is preceded by a quote from an article. Credit is due to the Guardian, the BBC, the Daily Telegraph, and Goal.com. Title with apologies to George Orwell.

Apologies for the spam. I tried to backdate but motherfucker wouldn't let me. ;_______________________________;
Title: The Fool Ascendant Author: hopechan Fandom: Code Geass Rating: PG-13 Warnings: Spoilers post-25. Pretension. Word count: 12,867. Words. Of gen character study. *facepalm* Music: Keane's "Atlantic," even though I look like a total loser for citing music from a band who's the new Coldplay. Alas. Also, to counterbalance that, "Carmina Burana." The whole thing. For: kill_me_faster, for whom I have nothing but rabid rabu, and whose writing originally inspired this, and also who let me bug and bother her until she became sort of a quasi-semi-beta. Also for realms_of_life, whose fic The House of Mirrors was a major influence on this, both stylistically and thematically. Seriously, if you haven't read that one yet, why the hell are you wasting your time here? Comments: MAH MEDIUM OPUS. LET ME SHOW YOU IT. Anyway, I should note that I switched the usual associations of the suits of swords and wands - traditionally, wands are associated with fire and swords with air. In some traditions the associations are as I have 'em here, so I just chose to go with that, because I'm the kid who alters the data to fit the model, which maybe explains my performance in freshman chemistry. DDDDDDD= The refrain comes from Yates' "Ode on a Grecian Urn."
Summary: What leads up to a gunshot, and what follows it.
The Fool Ascendant which is something to lament
0. The Major Arcana I. Wands, the Suit of Air II. Coins, the Suit of Earth III. Cups, the Suit of Water IV. Swords, the Suit of Fire
