AboutGreetings and salutations! This group is for that beleaguered and misunderstood breed of librarian, the cataloger / tech services specialist. Why, people ask, do we choose to work in a field when most library science students dread their mandatory cataloging courses? Whether you were pushed into a tech services position against you will, or are one of those special dyed-in-the-wool classification gurus, this group is for you. We also welcome students seeking help with assignments or even laypersons who are just interested in the field.

cleverusername2. Lots of administrators frown on cross-postings. I say knock yourself out. That’s what scroll buttons are for, right S.B.? I don’t mind if the conversations stray a little off topic either. We should know how to act like adults, however, but I reserve the right to end abusive conversations and excess drama. I don’t see much of that in the future, however, since true catalogers dislike drama. We just want to sit in our quiet cubicles typing away our arcane language of organization. Why can’t these winy self-important “reference librarians” just learn how to leave us Alone?!?!
