There are some workplaces where the macro might not be considered appropriate, and it shows up on the friends page of any user who has the comm friended.
Granted, it has to be read and interpreted. But the potential is still there. And there are workplaces (mine included) that don't mind if you read your LJ friends page while waiting for other things or while you're on break.
The community is on my (and many other people's) Friends page. One good reason for using a cut is to make sure that possibly offensive material has to be actively clicked on -- badtattoos_4 is also on my Friends page, but they put everything behind a cut, so there's no issue with possibly NSFW material. It's pretty much common courtesy, you know?
On any page view of this community, there's several macros that contain stuff that could be deemed NSFW that are not behind cuts - it's also not a requirement of the community.
So if you read this community while at work, you take the risk of getting in trouble. Same as if you decide to speed while driving, you take the risk of getting a ticket.
I've learned a long time ago to not read my friends list at work and that was when I was subscribed to only "safe" communities.
I do find it somewhat amusing that people are assuming that I "got in trouble" over this. It was just a polite request (one to which the OP has not responded one way or another, I might add...). I do realize that cuts for non-work-safeness are not required in this community; it's still considered polite. Wasn't part of the reason for the creation of wtf_catmacros to provide a place for patently offensive and non-worksafe macros? (Not, by the way, that I consider this particular one to be patently offensive. Just more potentially non-worksafe than many others.)
Um, did I say I was reading the community at work? Nope. It's on my friends page. And wow, I'm highly amused at the reactions of people (none of whom is the original poster, I might add) to a simple polite request. Which was not really even on my own behalf, I might add -- no one where I work would care about that macro.
Which completely ignores my point. This is not a worksafe community. Nowhere on the communty info page does it say that this is a worksafe community, nor does the moderator ask people to place possibly offensive material behind a cut.
Whatever. Many people do put NSFW material behind cuts, even on communities that aren't advertised as worksafe. (Even on this community.) It's considered, you know, polite. It's still making me laugh that such a simple request engendered such a response, too. Good Lord, you'd've thought I'd suggested that cat macros were child pornography or something.
If people want to put their possibly offensive pictures behind cuts, there's nothing wrong with that. But the point remains that there is no requirement to do so. Thus if you're browsing this community at work, even through your friends' page, you do so at your own risk.
This arguement has been made so many times it's old. The mod has also addressed it already a heap of times. If you still have a problem with it perhaps you should contact her after all that's what mods are for...(sorry Kittydoom!)
If it makes you feel any better, I know precisely what you meant by your comment and we all know its not a requirement to put them behind cuts but that wasn't the point being made. The whole thing seems to have become very overblown by people being overly defensive over something as simple as a polite request which equated to none other then the poster to have a consideration for other users that may not be reading/looking in a completely safe area. It only takes a few extra moments to do so and a lot of posters do it anyway.
~boggles~ If you are subscribed to the community on your friends page, and you are reading your friends page, then you are darn sure reading the community at work. And if you are in a workplace (or any situation) where this image is not safe, then you shouldn't be on the internet at all, especially on any site with user-created content. It's a jungle in these tubes.
Oh, and plz 2 not b cutting. If you're reading LJ at work, maybe you should be...oh, I dunno, working? And if somebody sees that over your shoulder and has issue with it, they're too damn uptight anyway.
Or maybe some people have smaller kids or something like that? It's not always about work. Why is it such a hardship for you to have to make an extra little click?
I maintain that yes, it should be cut. Just because a few people personally would not want an lj cut and cannot consider that other people live differently doesn't mean that a cut isn't a good idea. Even as someone who loved the macro and doesn't live with smaller children, I have to consider that other people live differently from myself and might prefer a cut.
I think the macro is hilarious. I just think it should be behind an lj-cut. Why is that so difficult for some people?? It doesn't offend me, and almost certainly wouldn't offend most of my co-workers, but why should someone have to take the chance of something offensive turning up on their friends page? That's the whole point behind cuts!
Because maybe the rest of us who read this community don't want to have to fucking click on a million "read more" links. We'd rather just scroll down the fucking page.

Stop being so inconsiderate to the majority.
