Meet Trevor

We have a new addition to our family. Meet Trevor! Trev was wandering around our place for about two weeks and I couldn't stand it anymore. We took him in with the intention of finding him a home. No one wanted a cat and the shelter we volunteer for was jam packed with new kitties. After some thought we decided to keep him. He is buddies with our boy Wonky. Every time we fostered a cat Wonky would get attached to them. His playmates were adopted and the girls want nothing to do with him. Trevor came into our lives and we couldn't break Wonky's little heart again. Its nice now that he has a playmate again! Well Trevor first started out as Chloe. I thought Chloe sounded too much like Zoe and I didn't want to confuse our Zoe. Changed Chloe to Melora. Mel went to the vet and walked out as Trevor. First time I've gotten the sex wrong. :o After the vet visit I then noticed a scrotum with testes absent. Thank goodness he came neutered! Anyway Trevor has made himself at home and has adjusted very well. The girls hate him but are adjusting to his presence. On with the kitty pics...

My dumb ass forgot to turn on the flash so the pics are a bit shady.

He loves Kitty Blunts!

Cat nip wears him out! I think Trevor is a Maine Coon. He has the personality of the Coon and it such a friendly boy.

Trevor's buddy Wonky doing his naughty kitty pose.

And just for fun here are some of our buddies from the Animal Adoption foundation who we volunteer for. I love every minute of it.

Oscar. He loves my husband.

I didn't catch her name but she hangs out in the lobby. Very sweet girl.

Oliver is my little man. We want to adopt he and Oscar but we have 5 kitties and no room. :(

Sally follows us anytime we get out the treats. She's so funny.

Oscar, Wendy, Oliver and Miss Etta with myself. We mistaken Etta to be with kitten because she's so round. Nope she's just a fuller figured lady.

Pacino is a sweet and shy guy.

Wendy and Mokie hanging out on the kitty patio.

Anne is in foster care right now. She tested positive for FLV and will be taken in by a rescue who specializes in FLV kitties.

Andy, Anne's brother tested negative and now has a new cage mate, Ernie. Ernie was a feral kitten brought in with his sister Zoey. The ferals have made tremendous progress. They went from hissing fits to purrs in a few weeks. Zoey was adopted.

And thats it for kitty pics.

I just brought Sokka home on Monday night. He was feeling a little under the weather from his big day, but yesterday he perked up and I got some pics :) I took a quick video too.

This morning when I woke up, he was snuggled against my leg, and when he realized I was waking up, he flipped onto his back and showed me his tummy! ^__^ I don't understand how his previous owner could give him back to the shelter.

Yeeees?

Blending in.. it's his only defense.

Halp.. being eated by panda

This is the weird knick in his ear. He doesn't care if you pet it, either.

And of course, my Tomo!:

She's been parked outside of Sokka's door, but she's still afraid of him and she hisses and swats him, so they're separated for now.

Getting my first Siamese... and my first male kitty.

He's coming home on Monday, since that's when I was able to get a vet appointment. I pick him up after work!

He looks VERY different in person than the picture on the website. He's very sweet and affectionate. Apparently the person who had him before me gave him back. They adopted him at 3 months old, then returned him at 8-9 months because their resident cat was cruel to him. There is a bit of a weird nick on his left ear, and I wonder if he was born with it, or maybe another cat attacked him? It's weird, but he doesn't mind when I touch his ears. He has a weird habit of going to every bowl and eating a little bit, even though it's the same food in each bowl. o.O Who knows.

He'll be my first Siamese, so I am very excited because he has beautiful blue eyes and gorgeous chocolate ears and a coffee-colored back. I don't know much about pedigrees, but I'm pretty sure he's at least half Siamese and maybe half tabby.

I'm going to name him Sokka (pronounced like sock-uh). I'm a bit nervous since this is my first male animal. My dog and cat are both females. But they're friendly and my resident cat is timid (which is why the owner recommended this Siamese to me--he's timid also), so we'll hope it all works out.

Did I wake up this morning thinking I would leave for work and come home with a kitten?

No.

And did I think my mother, who repeatedly declared, often unprovoked, that she would not tolerate another cat in her house, would be responsible for said kitten's arrival to our home?

Heck no.

As many of you know, my friends recently lost their eight month old kitten to a bizarre illness, suspected to be FIV. So when my mother's friend told her of a small kitten living under her porch, my mother thought my friends might be interested in adopting it. They had talked about getting another kitten sometime, but now was simply too soon for them.

So I went down to this person's house, and after much "here kitty kitty"ing, I heard this feeble, distant "miiiao." I meowed, it meowed, I meowed, it meowed until finally I could see it in the shadows, where there was a tear in the porch's lattice. Had it been a bigger cat, I wouldn't have been so desperate to capture it immediately, as it would have been more likely to be fending for itself in the meantime. But the kitten I saw was the size of an average guinea pig, with round and bewildered eyes, and it was horrified at the thought of the world beyond the shadows of the porch. The home owner first noticed it three days prior to my finding it, so it was likely starving and dehydrating.

I tried luring it out with a can of wet cat food, but it scurried off into the shadows. I left the food for it to find on its own, and went to work.

I spent the afternoon at work calling local shelters in my free time, trying to find someone who would loan me a humane kitten trap, thinking it could possibly take days to get this little kitty out from beneath this porch.

I left work early and returned to the scene to find, much to my delight, the food had been half-eaten. It was a can of adult food since that's all I had in the house. The kitten recognized me and came out of the shadows just far enough to greet me. I suppose I'd built its trust by leaving food. It came fairly close to me, but flinched and scurried off whenever I stuck my finger out for it to sniff. So I'd walk to the end of the driveway and she would peer out to see where I was going. This back and forth went on for a while. Finally I decided another can of food might do the trick. I went to the grocery store (and drove like a madwoman, almost getting into an accident when I went around someone in a one-lane road for driving like grandpa joe), and returned with a can of food.

This time, the kitten didn't eat the food. It came out into the sunlight to sniff me! Gently but quickly I nudged her into the carrier. She didn't struggle or fuss, but she looked scared. I took her to the vet and got her all checked out.

She's eight weeks old and FIFTEEN OUNCES! Less than a medium cup of coffee at Starbucks. She didn't have any goopy eyes or ear mites, and the vet said she looked relatively healthy, albeit thin. They gave her some antibiotics and told me I'll have to keep her away from Tomo (my 2 year old cat) while I watch for signs of a respiratory infection and until she's old enough to be tested for HIV and Lukemia, which should be in about 2-3 weeks. So I bought her a nice big crate with a litter box and food and water. I got some wet food since she doesn't appear to be drinking much. She cries when I leave her unattended.

Considering she was so wary of me in the first place, she has become quite the lap cat. She let me groom her with a wet paper towel, and she let me swab out her ears with a Q-tip, and all she wants to do is sit in my lap. She has no interest in toys or hiding places (at least not yet). Even my mom, with her "no more cats in this house" is holding and loving her. Tomo knows something is going on. she actually tried to sneak into the basement, which seldom happens, and she's crying at the door.

She thinks the litter box is her bed. She just sits in there and chills most of the time she's in the crate. I made her a little fleece bed but she's yet to acknowledge it.

And oh yeah, her name is Mochi ^_^

It's been a whole year since Charlie passed away. I know I've been gone awhile. We just got a new digital camera and I was trying it out. The first four pictures are of Sunshine hamming it up and the last 7 are Snuggles, our new kitten we got last year. She has grown, but I don't think she's gonna get very big. I mean she's about a year old and she's still a little thing. I think she's gonna a munchkin. We'll see. I'm posting the pictures so you can see. I noticed that Snuggles got alittle bit bigger since the last pictures I posted was awhile ago. Enjoy the pictures, I'm hoping to get some of Snuggles in action some time. LOL. I really like how the pictures came out. Oh yeah Snuggles and Sunshine do get along somewhat, occationally they will clean each other, but they aren't best friends either. I had to resize the pictures, cause they come out HUGE.

Sunshine.......

********************************************************
Snuggles

Morgan

who needs alarm clocks when my cat has an internal alarm.

My little boy (8 months) has a gut feeling in the morning to not let me sleep in. Even when I don't have to be at work early, he still feels that I am sleeping in.

Most mornings he gets really close to my face so that his wiskers tickle me and wake me up. Well, this morning he reeeaallly didn't want me to sleep in (maybe he doesn't like the sound of the snooze alarm to keep going off). He gets really close to me and smells my face. I told him to leave me alone and he plopped down on the bed next to my face. Then he started to paw at my face. This little monkey just won't quit. He'll do anything to wake me up.

here he is (if I haven't shown you)

The story of Zieki, who fell out the window.

http://zieki.zxq.net/

**Warning** This post does request money at the end, not to be rude, just really in need of help. But not only money, your warm furry happy wishes for zieki or also very appreciated. I think the story itself is rather good too. Cross-posted through some cat loving communities, sorry if you see a repeat.**

I heard meowing on my way in the door one Saturday around 5 pm. This is not un-common as the downstairs neighbors have kitties that usually sit in the window and i like to meow back at them. Instead I saw a cat that looked exactly like Zieki, Kirstens little fluffy cat. Slight disbelief occurred in believing this was our cat, because he doesn't even like to go outside. So I scooped him up, concerned that he got out, but not too worried, and brought him indoors.

As soon as I put him down, I screamed, because he immediately fell forward and proceeded to flop like some horrible type of fish out of water. He had broken his legs! (i thought it was just one, but turns out to be both). This was a really horrible thing to see and no pet-owner should ever see their pets like that.

He didn't deserve this, he is such a nice cat. Never an angry thought in his cute little fluffy head. (Hes technically not mine, but we are very close and my cat Zander and him are good at being fluffy together) He is also not the brightest one, and I would never have believed he could be so brave.

2 broken legs! He was crying outside, but as soon as I had him in my arms he seemed fine. I was so impressed with him.

Luckily the huge cat hospital in Boston happens to be a short distance away, so he was in excellent care within a half hour. He was there from Saturday night to just coming home on Thursday.

While they took him away from us to check all his bones and then having to do 2 surgeries, one on each leg, I discovered some awful news. He had fallen out the window (3rd story) the night before! Me and his mother Kirsten had both been out that night and since we have a rather large house it was not unusual to not see a cat for a little bit. Turns out he fell out with the window screen and must have been knocked unconscious for a bit. Our downstairs neighbor found the screen and saw a cat (one of our 3rd roommates cats - Mio) in the window and panicked thinking she might fall out or jump and when she alerted our other roommate, I guess she acted like "oh whatever, thats weird". I'm really angry with her, she checked for her 2 cats (who happen to be rather nasty bitches I must say) and not for Zieki or Zander.

So the poor thing who doesn't like to be outside spent his first (and lets hope only) night outside in immense pain. Its so horrible.

But! The good news is that he made it through his surgeries wonderfully. Everyone at the vet fell in love with him and said he just kept purring and was happy to let them help him. When he came home on Thursday they said he probably wouldn't feel up to walking for at least a week, but he refused to even lay down! He was walking all over the place, exploring and enjoying the attention. He even jumped up on the bed (we tried to stop him of course) and did one of his most favorite things - hang out in a paper bag. He is doing so damn good and I'm really proud of him. Kirsten herself has been doing okay too, managed to stay mostly calm in the stress of all this including the financial cost. (There was never a minute in which we considered not to do the surgery, even though the vets kept asking about seeing finance people)

My friend made a quick website, where you could donate if you like, as the vet bills are over $5000 and we are rather poor people:

http://zieki.zxq.net/

But more importantly it also has some wicked cute photos of him and should be updated in a few minutes with pictures of him looking all silly and shaved after surgery. We'll continue updating his recovery too.

</a>

Much love from out kitty family to yours,

Lindsey

Moderators - please let me know if you prefer this be removed or behind a cut or anything, I'd be happy to oblige. <3

Hi.

I'm new. This community looks cute and right up my alley. I'm an amateur photographer. My four cats are more often my subjects than humans. I am a proud crazy cat lady. My cats are my kids. Here's a lot of photos of my darlings. Enjoy!

Zoe. She's also number 57 on catsthatlooklikehitler.com

Jezebel enjoys going for walks. My neighbors, especially the kids, go crazy for her.

She's such a Daddy's girl

Wonky our only boy. We believe him to have cerebellar hypoplasia just like this cutie. Believe me it doesn't affect him. He's still my little bad ass. He also loves EVERYONE. He is far from shy.

This is Mommy. Her real name is Jessica but she's been Zoe's mommy more or less for most of her life. We called her Mommy as a nickname and it stuck. Now it's her name. She's the big bad momma of this house. She's pretty protective of Zoe.

I turned Zoe into a LOLcat.

I swear we're not particular to any breed or coloration of cats. All our cats are rescues or adopted. I'm not fond of breeding.

This is Pumpkin. She was one of our fosters we took in. Her new family named her Whispers. She is a lovebug.

Mommy does not like kitty beds.

We live in an apartment. It sucks because I'd love to take in more cats. Space doesn't let us. The cats we do have enjoy getting some fresh air on the balcony. Jezebel was barred from the balcony. She jumps. So she goes outside on the harness. Believe it or not she really doesn't mind or fusses. She gets really excited seeing the harness.

The paw warmer

They got a new bed for Catmas.

You're supposed to climb in it, not on it. But she don't care.

Momma loaf

They have some unusual sleeping habits.

Another foster, Bree. She and Whispers are "sisters" now. Apparently they're both pretty dominant and are constantly battling out to see who owns the staircase.

This face made it in the local paper. The litter box doesn't seem to smell much anymore, and they seem to have a lot more energy. which is good. and their hair is flake free and sooo soft! :] .. i just wish i could find their cat treats in stores, because i can't seem to find them anywhere!!
