Castaways--a "Lost" RPG planning community

So buongiornodaisy has left Milliways and has left me in charge of this ship. HI!

For those of you who don't know me, my name is Heather, my mun journal is calluna, and I play way too many pups. (Pups whose strings I pull: Maxwell Smart, Ouranos, Adrian Monk, Frasier Crane, Alex Krycek, the now retired Nick Carraway [and lots of other ex-pups], John Byers, Liz from Shaun of the Dead, and, of course, Dan.)

Um. I'm not sure I know all of you, so if you don't know me and could introduce yourself, that would be fantastic. :D

That said, onto some modly business: What points in canon are your characters in-bar from? I'm just trying to get a general idea, since Dan is from slightly pre-S4, and (I think) Hurley's from S1, and... that's all I know right now. (And Roger and Emily are obviously post-canon.) So if you could let me know, that would be good!

Also, taking from the last activity check post, I believe this is what the current "Lost" cast in Milliways looks like:

So one of the ideas I had was to do an activity for the "Lost" characters in Milliways. Think of it as part activity check part purge (without the gas): first we're going to check to see who's active, then we're going to do some investigation about the players who are inactive. Once that's done I figure we can e-mail the mods about who's active, who's retired, and who can be deleted, thus freeing up the cast list for anyone who'd like to puck up the dropped characters! :D

Just a heads up that I am now moderating this comm, by permission of the lovely misslucyjane. I have a few ideas I will act on as soon as everything is settled with the move. :D

Hey, guys, this is just to let you know that, as much as I have enjoyed playing Locke in the past, I have to retire him now. Waiting on canon has made me a bit lax on playing him, and now I just can't work up the will to do it. *sads*

The suggestion has been tossed out of doing a Lost/Heroes crossover plot. Anybody interested? Anybody got some ideas percolating?

This question will probably make more sense once the season is over. I'm not 100% up on what's going on on Heroes right now (and this is not a request for spoilers for either show), but I'm thinking if we start considering possibilities now we could come up with something really fun by summertime.

Anyway. Brainstorming time! Or . . . thinking about brainstorming time.

A while back I started keeping a list of canons where Lost was not fiction--or at least, Driveshaft was not fiction. (My reasoning has gone, music travels between worlds more easily than people. For instance, Driveshaft exists in the 24-verse but the Lost-verse never had a President Palmer; Bartleby was able to buy Driveshaft CDs in his universe even though in Charlie's there never was a slaughter at a New Jersey church. Etc.) A lot of characters have come to Charlie and said they're fans, and who am I to disagree.

It appears to be time to draw all this together and decide where Lost is fiction and where it is not. I'm putting Alias as a same-universe thing due to "Everybody" being played in the background in one ep in the last season.

Also, there was an article in the Boston Globe recently about the possibility of Heroes and Lost existing in the same universe (even though Heroes is current day and Lost is still set in 2004. This makes my head hurt.)

Then there's the matter of what's fiction in the Lost-verse. There have been tons of pop culture references and I'm sure there's a website that's collected them out there somewhere--I've just listed the ones that immediately come to mind.

Any and all help for all lists will be greatly appreciated.

My surgery kicked me in the ass, school is non-stop busy, and my mother's health is declining rather than improving. I am going to keep his journal, but I'm removing him from the comms. Feel free to pick him up and start wherever you like. Mir and I each only played a handful of threads and none of them were plot heavy.

So ... I'ma bring in Desmond ... either tomorrow night or Saturday, hopefully. (Might wait 'til Sunday, actually, so Jack can be there.) But I want to check things with y'all first. He'll be coming in straight from canon (randomly running into the bar or something after he leaves Jack), but I don't want to contradict anything any of you have Millicanoned about him, so ... let me know!

Also, be sure to tell me if you specifically don't want your pup to meet him or even be aware that he's here. (That last caveat? Is for crack randomness. That you will see in time. And can blame Jenna for, if I recall correctly.)

And having said all that -- anyone got any other ideas? Anything they want to see? Or plot? :D? Just comment, ping me on djcati13, or e-mail (in userinfo). Total crack is always fun, so.

As far as I know, "Lost" has not been mentioned as a show on any other TV shows (that have characters in the bar, at least. I think it was shown on a TV on "Desperate Housewives" once.)

Canonically, "Lost" and "Alias" exist in the same universe. (But I don't think we have any "Alias" characters in, either, though iirc we had a Sydney briefly.)

Millicanonically, "Lost" exists vaguely in the same universes as Buffy, 24 and Midnight Nation (or at least Drive Shaft exists in those universes: I've excused it with the idea that music tends to be the same through all alternate earths, and the more alternate the earth the less likely they are to have the band. Yes, it's vague.)

Any other cross-canons? Any canons were "Lost" is known to be a TV show?
