Now then.
To start, a quick reminder that Bad Moon Rising, our weekly pub night, continues at The Mannville Arms, Bradford, every Thursday. Kick-off is 7pm, it's free admission, and we're open 'til around 11:30. Your ever-so-friendly DJ plays a mix of goth, industrial, post-punk and related genres to soundtrack your evening's boozing and schmoozing, and there's a dancefloor should you need it.
Our next live night is fast approaching: on Saturday 13th June we'll be welcoming Novus UK (ex-Faithful Dawn) and Flesh Eating Foundation to the Mannville. As ever, this is a free gig, so you've really no excuse. We'll be following our usual pattern of kicking off the DJing at 8, with the bands on at around 9 and 10 and more music after.
Thanks to the fantastic turn-out at the first two live events, the Mannville's management have asked us to do monthly gigs from August - the second Saturday of every month - and we've been only too happy to agree.
So, on August 8th you can see old Carpe Noctum favourites Action Directe (+ support), whilst September's gig will feature the much-requested return of Legion, with support from the excellent Siamese Twist. We hope to be announcing more bands shortly.

Celebrate a year of weekly goth nights in Bradford with us at the Mannville this Thursday (and every Thursday). Running seven while midnight, admission is free.
Then on Easter Saturday, back at The Mannville, a free gig!Headliners PINK HEARSE have garnered themselves an enviable reputation for their energetic horror-punk shows, whilst locals Mourning for Autumn return for their first hometown gig with their new line up.
Proceedings kick off at 8pm, with MFA on stage around 9 and Pink Hearse around 10. Your regular request-friendly DJ will then take you through 'til 1am.
Whilst I'm here, it would be remiss of me not to mention another free night of entertainment at the Easter Flock on Sunday.

| Thank you! |
[Feb. 8th, 2009|07:55 pm] |
As this was our first gig at the venue, I was (based on past experiences with Circumstances Beyond My Control) a tad nervous...
I needn't have been.
Thanks, therefore, are due to:
Lesbian Bed Death for a belting set, and for being top people.
Legion likewise, and for presssing the flesh to get the Leeds folk out.
Mick for excellent sound and making it all possible, and of course Alec and all at The Mannville.
All the lovely people that came along to drink, dance, and watch the bands.
And my undoubtedly better half for putting up with my eccentric obsessions.
Hope to see more of the same on April 11th for Pink Hearse and Mourning for Autumn - and, indeed, at Bad Moon Rising every Thursday night.
Cheers!

| This Saturday in Bradford... |
[Feb. 3rd, 2009|12:16 pm] |

Lesbian Bed Death "When goth has degrading sex with glam" Probably best known for the controversial club hit "Goth Girls Are Easy", they take on board a slew of influences ranging from the Misfits to Billy Idol, The Sisters to Motley Cure... and put on an energetic, charismatic and OTT live performance.
Legion "Smoke machines, drum machines, amphetamines" Leeds' newest goth band, playing goth rock in the classic style. The tag line says it all.
The Mannville Arms is at the bottom of Great Horton Road, just opposite Bradford college, and was known for a while as The Head.
This Saturday, 7th February. Approximate running times are: DJ from 8pm, Legion @ 9pm, Lesbian Bed Death @ 10pm, then DJ 'til 1am. Admission is free. |

| Last BMR of the year...and free clubbing afterwards! |
[Dec. 17th, 2008|10:55 pm] |
It's our Grand Christmas Blow Out!
Your perfect excuse to get away from the Christmas shopping, works do, family... Bad Moon Rising at The Mannville this Thursday night, from 7 'til - sometime after 11. Your usual mix of goth, industrial, 80s, punk and post-punk, quite probably with an added smattering of festive cheese.
If that's not enough, our friends @ Hades alternative night (at the Uni's Escape Bar) are offering free admission after. Yep, free pubbing, followed by free clubbing. Beating the credit crunch by ensuring all your beer tokens are available for beer.
We're back in the new year. Not quite sure if that's literally New Year's Day or not yet, I'll keep you posted. Have a good one. |

Bad Moon Rising continues to go from strength to strength, bringing weekly supplies of goth, post-punk, industrial and assorted 80s muck to the musically-deprived people of Bradford every Thursday at The Mannville Arms.
Free entry (it's a pub, after all), real ale, and request-friendly DJing at volumes you can natter over - unless you sit right next to the speakers or venture onto the dancefloor. Oh, and a covered smoking area and takewaways and taxis just outside.
Do feel free to pop along, this Thursday or any Thursday. Proceedings begin around 7, and continue to 11ish... or maybe a bit later...

Bad Moon Rising Live launches next year, running free bi-monthly Saturday night gigs at The Mannville. Our confirmed line-up so far is: Sat 7 February: TBC + Legion Sat 11 April: Pink Hearse + TBA Sat 9 June: Novus UK (ex Faithful Dawn) + Flesh Eating Foundation

Netgoth's been up and running again for a few months, if you've not noticed. Back in the day, this was a great - and community centred/run - resource for all on the goth/industrial scene, and it would be nice to see it back again as the centre of all UK related gigs, clubs, pubs, people, shops, etc.
Use it, and spread the word. |

| The future |
[Nov. 9th, 2008|09:17 pm] |
The Mannville management have asked, very nicely, if we'd mind awfully carrying on running Bad Moon Rising for the forseeable.
Of course, the answer is "sure". I get free beer after all.
We'll hopefully soon be able to announce the first slew of regular Saturday night gigs for Bad Moon Rising Live, at the same venue. In the meantime; we're there every Thursday. Pop along whenever the mood takes you. |
