WoozleMeeps! [20 May 2009|10:05am]

I had a grand day out at the Cape May furmeet, full of visiting our little furry cousins at the Cape May zoo, then terrorizing the city of Cape May with our madcap mayhem (mwaaa haa haa!), buying anything and everything with pawprints (paw car magnets at the pet shop "the best things in life are furry", doorbells, etc.).

I'll post photos soon to my web page.

Thanks to all that came.

Although we only did Saturday, it was a great meet. :=3

Don't forget that next year's CMFM will be the 10th anniversary version. There should be special items to be given out and sold. :=3

A good meet, even though I was there for only the later half. Walked too much, spent too much, ate too much. Whee :)

Apologies to anyone I was weird at, it's been a stressful week and my hermit-mode was in full force. I need to get out more.

We Can Haz Furmeet! [29 Apr 2009|09:39pm]

smrgol_t_kirin
I have talked to LK and the Cape May Furmeet is a go for the weekend of May 15th, the weekend before Memorial Day.

The good news is that the railroad is up, the cars are in good shape and ready to go.
The bad news is that there are 300 freight cars in storage that are blocking the line to Cape May, so no train this year.

The schedule will be the same, Saturday morning at the zoo, then into Cape May for the afternoon and dinner.  Hang out on Saturday evening.
Sunday on the Wildwood Boardwalk.

I hope y'all can make it!

Weekend Weather [14 May 2008|07:56pm]

mooncat
[ mood | tired ]

Well, as of right now, Saturday looks to be about 69 degrees or so, partly cloudy and Sunday around 66-ish with some potential for rain. Knowing the weather, this could all change within a moment's notice, but so far, looks like a decent weekend for the meet.

CMFM- It's less than 2 weeks away! [07 May 2008|12:12pm]

The subject tells all.

We won't have the trains again this year, so we'll have to carpool every where. Sorry about that, but the track hasn't been fixed yet.

Meeting time and place are still the same: Middle Township Elementary School #2 at 9:00 both days.

Hope to see everyone there. :=3

capemayfurmeet.biz is up! [20 Jan 2008|09:51am]

For the time being capemayfurmeet.biz is up and running, and is the place to get the latest scoop on CMFM. As soon as I can log into capemayfurmeet.com's FTP that site will be updated and it will remain the "official" site.

Please note when navigating through the .biz site you probably will have to use your browers "Back" button to get back to the home page, as most of the internal links haven't been redirected at this time. :=/

Also, if you still have the original www.capemayfurmeet.org link, it will now point to the .com site!

In about 24 hours there will be a back up CMFM site, in case I can't get capemayfurmeet.com's FTP to work with me.

The back up site will be www.capemayfurmeet.biz and will be live by Tuesday at the latest.

Updates [19 Jan 2008|10:20am]

Okay, this has been long in coming.

The next CMFM will be on May 17 & 18, 2008. Yes, I know I have to update the home page.

We should be able to use the train this year, plus get into Cape May by rail. Also we should be using a different lounge car, instead of the #37.

Speaking of home pages, I just re-newed some domains and I bought back capemayfurmeet.org!!! It will point to capemayfurmeet.com . :=3

Also look for some merchindise to be sold, mostly hats, a limited number.

Enquiring Minds Want to Know [17 May 2007|09:29pm]

So let me make sure I've got my facts right:

a) No train, right?

b) Is there a revised (train-less) schedule? Is there going to be adequate parking down in Cape May proper since we're not taking the train down there?

c) What's the story with the wildfires? Are they going to impact the commute?

We need some info, meet organizers! :)

Update on train availabilty. [12 May 2007|04:20pm]

[ mood | disappointed ]

I worked down the CMSL today and talked to the gentleman whose hi-rail derailed.

It is bad. He told me that any train, on the section he was on, would've rolled over. Also the track builders, who rescued him in their hi-rail, spread the rails just south of the Woodbine bridge and derailed there. He also told me that he was in his speeder, a small rail inspection car, that weighs no more than 1 ton, was "popping" the rails up, just north of Cape May Court House. What that means is the ties aren't holding the spikes in place and the ties are so rotted that the speeder was causing the rails to sink in to them.

Tony will not, in any way, have the money, nor have it fixed in one week. We are talking at least a month long project to put the railroad back into any sort of condition to run trains on it.

So the result is no trains for this year's CMFM. I'm sorry, but there is no possible way of getting equipment over that 9 mile section of track. If I could I would, but after seeing the pictures of the how badly the hi-rail was derailed; no way. Not going to happen.

Zoo stuff [12 May 2007|11:53am]

Fans of things ottery may be interested to note that there is a new enclosure at the zoo. The old otter pen was re-done and looks pretty nice, however it does afford a somewhat limited view. I think that was re-worked because people might have been tossing things into the pen from the now removed bridge that formerly crossed over it. (They were hiding when I peeked in so I don't know how many otters are in there)

The cougars may or may not be present, when I was there a few weeks ago I saw a bobcat in the enclosure instead.

Other than that, it's still looking great there. :)

Edit: LK, in the event that there is no train, will the initial meeting place remain the same as indicated on the website?

Update on CMFM! [04 May 2007|06:06am]

lowen_kind
[ mood | disappointed ]

The CMFM is still a go, but a snag, a major one, has developed.

I had hoped to get into Cape May by rail this year, but that was looking iffy, so I got another bus, but that is not the snag. :=/

Last night I was informed by Tony, the owner of the CMSL, that the past few storms had washed out a couple of sections of roadbed and ballast between Tuckahoe, where the M-407 is, and Cape May Court House, where the meet starts. The washouts are so bad someone with a hi-rail, a truck that can run on rails, derailed. Tony took a gentleman from a track building firm to one of the wash outs and the gentleman basically said, "If you take a train over this you better be ready to haul it out of the swamp."

Tony is trying to get the money together to do emergency repairs to the track before Memorial Day, as he wants to re-start train service on the south end this year. However, I'm not holding my breath on it being ready for CMFM.

So the CMFM is still a go, however the possibility is a very good one that there will be no train service this year.

I'm apologize to all that look forward to the ride, but there is nothing I can do. :={

that the CMFM is a go!

Be advised that we will only have the M-407. The rest of train, most notably the 37, will be in Tuckahoe and being used for operations up there between Tuckahoe and Richland.

If you are going, or know someone that is, please let me know as to who you are and how many are attending.

Don't forget the web site - www.capemayfurmeet.com .

I wanted to take the opportunity to make this official announcement...

I have been working on this for a long while now... but today it's been made 100% official and legal.

I have started a new organization for fursuiters and handlers to have fun and make people smile by sharing in their antics at children's hospitals, charity events, parades, etc.... It's called...

Caring Critters

Sometime in the future we will be looking for fursuiters and handlers to come out and join us at events, having fun and making others smile. If anyone wishes to help out, please feel free to give a shout out to me or any one of our members and lend a paw in any way you can. even if you aren't a fursuiter... we could always use help in any other facet of the organization... public relations, advertising, website development, artists, planning etc... feel free to toss your name in the proverbial hat and we'd be happy to have your help.

Currently the website is under construction but the URL is...

www.caringcrittersnj.org

And will be online as soon as we can get to work on it.

You should all know that this isn't going to be some fly by the seat of your pants ..half assed organization.. this is a 100% legal and officially registered corporation recognized by the State of NJ and a certified 501(c)3 not for profit corporation. There is a full fledged board of trustees and official by-laws to protect all the members of this organization so feel free to join us and have some fun!!!
