9:32 pm [lunargoddessx]	debate request Hi everyone! I'm brand new to live journal and posting this from my mobile so asking forgiveness in advance for any typos/LJ faux pas. I found cantrap several years ago, read it repeatedly, then fell off the face of the internet for a few years. Recently I started re-surfing some old favorite sites and was delighted cantrap was still there. I never knew there was a cantrap message board of any kind and by chance found it last night and it appears I wasn't the only one to recently find it. I love the no-nonsense no fluffy bunny approach used in the articles and I'm hoping with the new posting maybe some debate in the theory and practice of magick can happen? And if not if anyone is active on a serious board that frequently discusses and debates theories and practices with a no fluff style they can share? Thanks for reading hopefully someone will be responsive and debating can begin! I didn't really think of anything to start a debate yet I was just going to start by feeling out interest. 5:52 am [dizzy51]	General Interest in the Mechanics of Magic(k) How serendipitous is it that someone else would post on here the day i hear about it? Anyway, i was bouncing around the Web, looking for views on demons when i happened across cantrap. All the stuff on the site pretty much fit my views exactly on ghosts and demons, so i'm interested in the more magical aspects of the site. For instance: i understand how human emotion can imprint upon a certain place and "replay", being perceived as a spook. I don't really understand how wrapping a leather thong around my arm will make me stronger. I have pretty much no background in "the Craft" with the exception of one brief period when i started getting into the Harry Potter series and all my days in staunch opposition to it as a fundamentalist Christian. I literally joined LiveJournal just to talk with you folk, so any feedback will be most appreciated. I feel like i may be able to get a comprehensive answer here without all the "Mother Goddess", "fairies and gnomes" nonsense (not that i'm mocking belief in the Mother Goddess or the Fae; it's just a little hokey for me).  (22 Comments |Comment on this)

4:31 pm [ven_caution]	New kid... Hi! I've just joined this community (call it a birthday present to myself). Over the past years, I've been more and more interested in magic. I've only just started actually reading up on some stuff this past month. I came across the cantrap website and tried some things. Auras, meditation, not much yet. So, yeah, guess you could say I'm pretty new at this. If there is anything, anything at all that anyone would like to share with me, I'd be a very happy camper. Tips, hints, etc. So, yeah! 12:29 pm [bemery]	looking for help I found you on the net by looking for how to get rid of a demon and wandered across your Ouija demon article.   I am not quiet sure what is going on here or quite how to deal with it, but we are going to salt, sage, and do the ritual you described.   I can't quite say where we picked up this nasty little entity, but I suspect it was from my boyfriends parents house when we were pet sitting as we did run into it there. I thought we had gotten rid of it, but are having trouble sleeping again and the dreamtime this morning was out of control. ( we did spend the night at their house on Saturday) I can pretty much say it is not a spirit as I have experience with dead people and this doesn't appear to behave the same way. This thing's MO is to get into your thoughts and take something that bothers you a little and blow it out of proportion. I have been waking up in a state of anxt and generally not getting much sleep. My energy is week in general at the moment due to a discontinuation of a medication I was taking.   Here is the kicker........ I was having trouble sleeping this morning so I went out to sleep on the couch. I had a nightmare and was dreaming that I had awoke from the dream. The little trickster pretended to be my boyfriend and when I went to touch him for comfort showed itself and scared the crap out of me. Thinking I was definitely awake I did a very intense white light exercise, then called on the arch angel Michael to help me out. This has never failed before.........but something seemed wrong as he didn't come with sword in hand but appeared to be some type of animal like creature - so I called on all the corners, intensified the white light and cleansing.............long story short I ended up being tortured in my sleep even though I thought I was awake for several hours. It took a long time to really wake up and when I did I was doing that horrible dry scream. I do at one point remember growling as well.   I really don't have much experience with this type of energy and have no idea how long it has been around. It feels more like it is attached to us than the house but it is an old 1800's Victorian and I can only take care of our apartment. Another footnote is that our seventeen year old kitten passed away in May of cancer which would make our energy a bit lower as well, but it did feel like he went before his time, and he did quite a bit to protect us and our home.   Any thoughts on this would be appreciated as I am at the end of my rope (2 Comments |Comment on this)

2:52 pm [qekasmai]	New Hello, I found the Cantrap website via StumbleUpon, and have much respect for its frankness. I especially liked the thoughts on love spells, and was hoping some people here would give some constructive criticisms on this one I wrote up (but synthesized from Pigasus's shell spell and Qvanity's olfactory spells.) ( Oh, great, just what we need... ) I haven't cast it, though, I'm just getting a feel for sympathetic magic theory. A spell I would like to develop for casting is the opposite of this-- Hiding the Heart, kind of like Davy Jones in Pirates of the Caribbean (and assorted fairy tale antagonists.) How would that work, metaphysically, do you think? I thought it would use the same principles as this, but this is all linking and binding and a lot easier between two people than essentially banishing a part of oneself. How else to encourage emotional compartmentalization? (Comment on this)

11:50 am [brigid_goddess]	Hi I'm new to the community so I just wanted to say hi and let you know I joined. I've been dabbling with magic for about seven years and I'm still amazed at how much I don't know. I have also visited the cantrap website and found it to be a very good source of information. I found the website off a different website called whywiccanssuck.com, it's the best website I have ever been to. It's definately non fluffy which is what I like about it. I don't know if it's still available but I go to it as often as I can. But anyways I just wanted to say hi basically and let everyone know that I will be posting from time to time. I have a question: does anyone know, or can point me in the direction of, suitable spells/curses that can be written at the front of a magical diary/book of shadows to scare people off trying to read it?
