Next year the festival will take place between May 13-224, 2008.
The first festival was held on September-October, 1946 and has been held almost annually since then. The highest award given at the festival is the Palme d'Or (Golden Palm) for best movie, followed by the Grand Prix (Grand Prize) award. Countries that have won past Palm D'Or awards include France, USA, Italy, Brazil, Japan, Germany, Mexico and many others.
The city of Cannes is located on the French Riviera in the department Alpes-Maritimes. To learn more about the city visit: http://www.cannes.fr/
