Canada's Next Top Model

Andrea's going to have an interview on Entertainment Canada on Monday at 7pm.. Apparently her first since her "vacation spree"..

"Top Model Nightmare

The inaugural winner of Canada's Next Top Model was enjoying a vacation in the sunny Caribbean when she and a friend were attacked by three men knife-wielding men.

"The world just stopped," Andrea Muizelaar said yesterday, back in her parents' kitchen. "I didn't have any thought except, 'I'm going to die.'"

The 21-year-old and a friend were taking photographs in Castries, St. Lucia, when they were surrounded. Luckily, they managed to escape with a cut and bruises.

Despite winning Top Model, Muizelaar quit the business last year. "The biggest reason was because I was severely anorexic. My choice was between my health and possible fame."

"And I wasn't making the money everyone thought and people were not treating me like a top model."

So Muizelaar decided to leave the toxic modelling life behind, move back in with her parents and enrol in a college business program where she's now excelling."

I see that Andrea has been replaced by a famous face.. Drew Barrymore is now the spokes model for TruBlend makeup

This was originally posted a few weeks ago in the ANTM community, but I thought I would share these here for others who haven't seen them, or for those who weren't aware that she has since added more videos.

Canada's Next Top Model Cycle 1 winner Andrea Muizelaar has been posting videos on YouTube in which she answers viewer questions and discusses her past eating disorder, as well as her contempt for the Top Model franchise.

Okay, she doesn't really rant, but here's what she has to say about Andrea and the status of her relationship with her charming boyfriend:

On comparing herself to Andrea (both high-fashion red-heads): 

Last year’s winner, Andrea Muizelaar, also won as the judges’ high fashion pick, but has since left the fashion business, a more than slight embarrassment for the show. Rebecca insists that, unlike her predecessor, she’s in it for the long haul.

"...they definitely chose a winner this year that`s in it for all the right reasons. I`ve wanted to do this for so long. I didn`t just go on the show to be on the show. I went on the show to be a model and I know that maybe (Muizelaar’s decision) reflected negatively on the show, but this show is a great experience, and with the right person, I think that they can show that it`s an amazing opportunity, and it`s a shame that she decided she didn`t want to do it"


On the boyfriend:

"I think with that episode he was a little nervous,” Rebecca says, looking back, and hinting that things might have cooled off between them. “I'm used to the lights camera action thing but he wasn't, and some things don't go too well. He's a very nice guy and he means well and we see each other now, but things are a little rocky, but he's a great guy"

I just found this interview with Andrea where she talks about how her modelling career dried up after she dissed Jeanne Beker publically.

I don't think it was just her comparing Jeanne to the Devil Wears Prada character that did it though, because I distinctly remember an interview with Andrea shortly after her win where she called Jeanne a washed-up divorcé.

Ugh. Who even allows these to go into print?
