VANCOUVERITES: A PROPOSAL.
Okay, so we all know that TOC isn't coming to Canada. As a Canadian (and citizen of Vancouver! >:() I feel defeated--but I'm still reluctant to give up the hope that there's no way I can go. Basically, I refuse to miss another Dir en grey, JRock Revolution, and everyone else due to TOC's poor management. So, I did a bit of research.
Tickets for WaMu in Seattle = $28.25 US
Round trip Greyhound bus: about $50
Langley: departs 9:30 AM, arrives in Seattle 3:30 PM (6 hours); departs 11 PM and arrives 7:25 AM. It says that there will be one transfer for each.
Vancouver: (several times, depends on how early you want to get there; no transfers; takes about roughly 4 hours)
Taxi from Seattle Greyhound station to WaMu (using mapquest; rough estimate): 3.38 miles; 7 minutes. This is usually about $15 (so to and from it's 30) in a cab, but my memory is vague. I've been to WaMu before so I know the area (where to get water, go to the bathroom, etc), but if you pack light it shouldn't cost too much extra.
So far, the minimum total is...$108.25. Well, I guess it could be worse. I remember when I went to see Dir en grey, it cost close to $200 because we stayed in a hotel for two nights, but since this is on a weekday and not a weekend, it will be difficult to get to and from the Vancouver/Langley/etc station in the early morning if you don't own a car.
Problems: Border, transportation to WaMU, converting Canadian dollars to US, what time it will end (or when D'espairsRay and MUCC ends--we'd have to be back to the station 10:45 latest and the concert starts at 5:30), cutting school (if you have classes that day), and extra expenses (like food, merchandise, etc).
After writing up this entire post, I feel even MORE defeated just because it seems like a lot more trouble than it's worth, but if enough people show serious interest then maybe something can be arranged. It also heavily depends on what time the concert ends, because I don't know if I could afford a hotel (and transportation to the hotel).
I'm glad I wrote this out and showed myself that there is the possibility, but also that the possibility is highly unlikely (and without a group of people to go with). Looking back on this, the chances of me going are very slim, but I hope somebody gets some use out of this 'itinerary' of sorts!
