2:47 pm - ATTN ALL CIELERS: Laruku in Paris Concert Ticket FOR SALE; Venue Guide

cassis_craxone
So... yeah, my first post in this comm but I've been watching it for a while... admittedly I'm only posting now due to my dire circumstances, so I'll forego the cheesy intro. :x

TO ALL CANADIAN CIELERS:
As much as my heart breaks at it, I won't be able to make it to the Laruku concert on May 9th in Paris cuz it just isn't practical. I've just spent a week in Paris already so it doesn't make much sense for me to shell out for another flight over just to satisfy my fangirl craving. SO, that means I'm selling my ticket.

Event info: "Tour 2008 L'7 ~Trans Asia via Paris~" - L'Arc-en-Ciel
Date & Time: Friday, May 9th Doors open 7pm, Start 8pm
Venue: Paris Zenith - 211 Avenue Jean Jaures, 75019, Paris (***see below for my venue guide***)
Ticket Type: Free seating
Cost: 49.50 Euros is the standard price for this ticket type; I'm asking $60 CDN (about 38 Euros) because I'd prefer payment in $CDN, and since there's less than 2 weeks till the concert.
Shipping: FREE within Canada unless you want priority shipping, for which the standard Canada Post fees will also be added
BONUS: If you're under 25 yrs old (or just look under 25) and are female (since my name is printed on it - but I can assure you from experience, since the pass is already validated they DO NOT check ID, you just have to flash the pass at the ticket counter), I can also sell you my Eurail Pass, which is good for one full day of travel on regional trains within France or Spain (I used up 3 days of the pass during my trip). This isn't valid on the Paris metro system, but it IS valid on the RER regional trains which you need to get INTO Paris from the airport and back. Without the Railpass - which gets you RER tickets for FREE - it's about 8.50 Euros each way. I'll only ask an additional $12 CDN if you want it, and will provide you with instructions on how to use it.
Payment: via Paypal, but if you don't have a Paypal account I'm willing to discuss other options.

***THIS TICKET IS ALREADY PRINTED ie. it has my last name printed on it. However, the venue is not likely to check id to match names - I have NEVER been ID-checked for name purposes at any venue I've been to anywhere in the world - and there isn't even a title attached to it (eg. Mr./Ms.) so it isn't gender-specific. In other words, anyone should be able to use it.***

Please contact me immediately at reiciel@gmail.com if you're interested.

And now, for anyone already heading to the Laruku concert and it's your first time to Paris, see my venue guide under the cut:

How do I get to Le Zenith? )

Hope that didn't take up too much of ppl's time, much obliged =)

11:31 am - Raffle!

pinkspiderhsb
Hello!
I wanted to post this a while ago, but it completely slipped my mind.
Better late than never though, right?

The website, Shattered-Tranquility.net which is a site that brings readers the hottest news from the visual scene in English, is holding a raffle!

Tickets are only 50 cents a piece and the prize is a minimum of a $30 gift certificate at CDJapan.co.jp, which not only sells J-rock CDs, but ships to all parts of the world, including of course, Canada! The deadline to enter is midnight on April 30th and the drawing takes place on the site's six month anniversary, May 6th!

For more details or to enter, check out this post!

Oh, and the rules state the money has to be in USD, but since the CDN dollar and USD are practically at par, if you want to send money through the mail, you can use Canadian currency.

If you have any questions about it, please don't hesitate to ask me ^^

9:37 pm - Kra Interview!

eatingsoup101
On JRR, they recently posted an interview wih Kra. Almost halfway in to the interview, the interviewer asks where Kra would like to go in the future--either to visit or perform. They give answers like more of Europe, India, Taiwan... but then Keiyuu says something that warmed my heart, and I thought I'd share.

KEIYU: We do have a handful of Taiwanese fans that come to our lives. There are a lot of pretty girls in Taiwan. I would like to go to Canada. I went there once when I was little, so I have memories there. I want to see how different the scenery I saw when I was little differ from what I see now.

JRR: What season did you go?

KEIYU: I think it was winter. It was very cold, but I had fun there.

YASUNO: You’d probably have to study French.

KEIYU: Don’t they speak English?

YASUNO: Some of they do, but a lot of them speak French there too.

KEIYU: Oh, I didn’t know that.

Keiyuu and Yasuno. ♥ Sounds like he went out West, in my opinion, which is cool.

We've been working on it behind the scenes for.. FAR... too long.

canadajrock.ca goes almost-live this Saturday, April 26

Wait, ALMOST-LIVE?

Yea, there's been a few cockups, entirely my fault, but the forum should be up and running by then.

The only think the forum will need is a pretty banner. I'll be organizing a contest for that soon, but right now I'm not sure which forum software we'll be using so I havn't selected skins - It'll likely be PHPBB as the license for that is free [/technie]

Also: Surprise Zucci.

Cant wait to see you on the domain.

6:21 pm - Hurray?

tofusama
elloooo~

I am tofusama, I live in Ontario, in a town full of nothing but old people, retired people and some more old people.

Bands/singers I like, would be a horribly long list, and you'd all probably want to smack me, SO >_> some favorites include; GazettE, Diru, Girugämesh, Guniw Tools, MUCC, Kaya, D'espairsRay, X Japan....and ok...I will stop there, sorry sorry. I think I am not too picky, and my taste in music is pretty spread out lol, I enjoy most things.

I heard about this comm from Onesquishedcat >> who is down there below me <3 I am the friend she speaks of.

As a side note, I also enjoy videogames to an unhealthy extent (bit of a Final Fantasy VII nerd here >_> shush), yaoi (mmm), and....I dunno, movies? I work at McDonalds. No, I cannot give you free food, as much as I'd love to.

In all, I am fairly boring ^_^ So be my friend and make me unboring!

Seriously, if anyone lives in St. Catharines >_> come find me~   I will give you...cookies! Everyone likes cookies, right? Right.

5:06 pm - Introduction~

onesquishedcat
Hello there! My name is Onesquishedcat and I love jrock and live in Canada (obviously XD)
My favourite bands include alice nine., D'espairsray, Dir en grey, Gazette, Miyavi, Mucc and Sadie. There's more, like Malice Mizer and Kaya, but I don't listen to them as often ^^

It seems Ontario is a popular place for jrockfans, eh? ^^

I'd love to meet fellow fans..It's only me and a friend of mine that seem to like it where we live ><

In the city with the wonder of the world! The city run by tourists >>

Still, can't complain cuz then I was near enough to go to Rochester for the RTOC tour when I found out the Canadian dates weree supposedly cancelled XP

AND it means I don't have to go far for AN08 ^^

Anyway, I should prolly stop rambling. You're probably asleep by now XD

8:38 pm - Yet another musician ad.

pikaporeon
Ah, you're probably sick of seeing these in the community by now, but
MUSICIANS WANTED.

Basically, Blind Navigator wants -you-.
We're heavily influenced by Japanese acts Envy and Dir en grey, and to a lesser extent, Boris.
We're a heavier, hardcore/screamo leaning sound, so if you think that fits your bill, keep reading.

First and foremost, we need a guitarist and a drummer.
Guitarists, we'd rather you be energetic and willing to jump around on stage than have high levels of technical proficiency.
Drummers... well, this is hardcore / screamo. We'd like you to be able to keep time, and preferably have a doublekick and the ability to use it.

The idea behind the band is just to have a hell of a lot of fun and energy on stage. If you're behind that mentality we want you.

Finally, we're located in the Greater Toronto Area, and most practices will probably be in Mississauga. We have a drumset and guitar amp here so you don't need to lug your crap here if you don't want to for practices, but it is a terrible kit

Oh one last thing.. we have plenty of Japanese influence, but we are -not- a cover band, and we have -no- plans to wear makeup on stage.

9:38 pm - ORESKABAND to Participate at Warped Tour 2008!

eatingsoup101
Taken from JaME Canada:

The ska sextet ORESKABAND will be the first Japanese band to perform at all 46 locations on the Warped Tour 2008. The tour will start on June 20th in Pomona, California and will run until August 17th to wrap up in Los Angeles, California.

The girls, who participated at seven locations on the West Coast during last year's tour, are no strangers to the event and will perform alongside artists such as Angels and Airwaves, Gym Class Heroes and The Devil Wears Prada amongst others.

Ticket pre-sales started on March 14th at Warped Tour 2008. Pre-sales for certain locations have almost sold out, so be sure to snatch up those remaining tickets!

Canadian Dates: (let me know if I missed any)
7/19 Toronto, ON
7/20 Montreal, QC
8/5 Saskatoon, SK
8/6 Calgary, AB

I'll try to hit the Toronto date. ^_^

edit; If you're wondering where the heck you might have heard of them, they performed the 11th ending for the popular anime Bleach. The song is called Tsumasaki. You can download it at http://www.bleach7.com/ but I believe you have to be a member. It's in the music downloads section. It's a good song. Pst, if you don't watch or read Bleach, you should!

5:35 pm - J-TOWN?

aciid_cl0bb3r
hey, I was just wondering (for the people who live in Toronto/GTA) Have you ever heard of this store/plaza/mall/etc. called J-TOWN? It's in Markham I believe (3160 Steeles Ave. E)

It's been open for almost 10 years now, and I was curious if anyone has ever been there and what it's like. More specifically the bookstore/videostore. I just wanted to know how the pricing is... is it better than buying stuff overseas, is it more expensive? reasonable? And also, do they sell music there?

HERE'S the link~

Any help is appreciated :]

p.s. I'm sorry if this has been posted before >>;

phoodie04
Hi everyone....I'm looking for advice from those of you who live in or who are just very familiar with Toronto. I plan to come in to see Maximum the Hormone, and I need to find a hotel. It doesn't have to be dirt-cheap, but it should be reasonably-priced, in an area safe for a single female, and ideally will have good access by foot or public transit to the venue (Kathedral) and/or the Fairmont Royal York Hotel where the Music Week conference is going on. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

Okay, this was posted in the Canadian JRock group on Facebook by a member. So I can't promise this news is 100% legit. Sorry. Please delete if it's not allowed. But it urkes me A LOT what the RTOC reps said.

I just copied and pasted what she said here

"I was corresponding with a representative for the tour and he told me the same thing. There will be TOC in Canada but Japanese bands won't come to Canada "for a long long time." to quote him.
That made me a little upset considering I seriously wanted to see D'espairs Ray. I love them and when I found out they were coming to Canada I couldn't have been more excited. Now, I'm not going to Albany NY to see them. I can't.
Also, Chad [the reps name] said that when Dir en grey came to Canada twice [both shows of which I went to and were excellent] they had poor turn-outs. So, I'm thinking now maybe not even Dir en grey will come back to Canada. That would be devastating. I love them so much."

WHAT A BUNCH OF BS!
I REALLY want to talk to this rep, Chad. I'm asking the poster for how she was able to get into contact with him. I've seen several people over at the RTOC forums getting contact from reps. i seriously have NO idea where they got the contact info. I can't find it anywhere on the website.

I've already accepted the fact that the JRock bands touring with RTOC won't be coming to Canada. Fine. But what REALLY ticks me off is this bullcrap the RTOC is saying. WHERE the hell is he getting his information from?!
