Greetings from the Tragic Kingdom!
My name is Sam Penninpaw and I'm a new co-moderator for the Califur Live Journal page. If you have any questions about the upcoming convention, feel free to ask me and I'll try to answer them to the best of my abilities. I'm also on the convention staff, so I'll keep you updated on convention events and scheduling as well as guests, panels, volunteering, and other important information.
Califur.6 will be held June 4th through 6th, 2010 at the Irvine Marriott, which is located at 18000 Von Karman avenue in Irvine, California. The theme will be Fabulous Furry Funnies, and will celebrate anthropomorphic characters in comic strips and comic books. To learn more about our convention, check out our web site at:

I know they have one of these, but for first time con visits. But you think it would be neat to have a story time panel? Kind of like a camp fire setting with furs, and without a life fire (hehe) but telling stories on conventions, getting your first suit, your character, etc? Just throwing it out there, looking to maybe make it a yearly thing =) opinions? |

Just a reminder - while the entire site is not up yet, you CAN not only get the dates of the con and the info on the hotel, you can REGISTER at the website. Do it now - the rates do go up after awhile... |

I know this forum is for Califur things, but I was wondering if anyone out there needs a place to live in Porterville. $350 room and it includes washer/dryer, dishwasher, fridge, stove, and shared washroom. You would have access to the kitchen and main area of the condo.
Must provide proof of income, and pass a credit check.

I go to log in and it thinks abot it, then goes back to the screen I was just at but still says I'm a guest. It sees when I've tried an erronious log in or password, but wn't show me as logged in and I don't know why. then when I click on the help/support tab, it says the site is down. Anyone else having issues?

Hey everyone, Names Janis, just a Fur living in the middle of Hollyood. I think I've been able to go the PS once or twice in my entire life, so I haven't had much chance to make new Fur friends irl. If any of you are hiding out around the So-Cal area, please let me know. | Video Room Selections |

I know its a bit belated but I'm going to say it anyways. I think the person(s) who were responsible for choosing the selections for the video room this year were fricken geniuses. Specifically to include the animated feature Roadside Romeo. I've been into furry animation since I'm a kid, and since I am classed as a "gray muzzle" that means a long time. While I have been out of action for various reasons to varying degrees the last few years. I have not always been on top of recent releases. And RR was one of those. If yall hadn't been good enough to include this I would have never known about. I loved it so much I hunted down and bought a legitimate brand new copy of the film and have re-watched it about dozen times so far. I don't hesitate to say its become one of my all time favs. So to those who chose it for the play list you have my heartfelt thanks and gratitude. I look forward to seeing what you come up with for next year's program schedule. Thank you all you very much. |

The theme for CaliFur 2010 will be "Fabulous Furry Funnies!", i.e. Comic Strips. It's going to be at the Irvine Marriot (the same hotel as this year's), on June 4-6, 2010. |

I can't for the life of me remember your name, but you were the artist in the hallway who was stuck doing the unicorn centaur of doom badge. | Bigger and Better Things to Come? |

Califur was great this year. For some reason, it felt much larger then last year and I had a lot of fun. By the way, does anyone know what the membership total was for this year? I was also surprised how high some of the bids were at the pet auction this time around. Last year’s hotel sucked total blipety blip with the double-booked drunken wedding of doom, and a staff about as stuffy as stuffy as a funeral precession. This year, wow. I really look forward to next year. |

I had an amazing time, as always!
The hotel? It's definitely a keeper. Friendly (and competent) staff, wonderful space, great division of other hotel events (no one even knew about the prom on Friday), and I was able to throw a huge party without even a single noise complaint against us! Oh, and the pool area is amazing. ^_^
The con itself? Slightly chaotic, but that's to be expected. My biggest praise goes to security. Every year Califur security is on top of everything. Thanks guys!
My only suggestion? Find someone to help Stalking Cat paint the cabaret performers! Every year this is a problem and causes the event to run late, and causes a whole lot of stress on everyone involved. Other than that, all was good in the hood. ^_^
