I am job.
Hi

I need a new job. I currently work as a forklift driver in a flooring products warehouse. It sucks beyond belief. I've been trying to find something new (and by new, I mean that pays more than a whopping 10.50 an hour) lately, but haven't had a ton of free time. I've skimmed the job bank a few times, but not much goin on in there.

Does anyone know anywhere hiring (please don't tell me to drive around looking for help wanted signs, don't have the time, nor do I drive)?

Looking for something that pays decently is all. Any ideas?

Me rove you rong time in advance.

Neteller is looking for people. $12/hr to start (training) and once you've been there for 3 months, you get a dollar an hour raise. If you work the night shift, there's a $2/hr premium. Easy work, you just talk to people on the phone and answer their questions. Inbound call center for an international online service that is sortof like Paypal. Really good incentives, too. Email address is jobs@neteller.com

I hate that you can't edit comments...

I meant, at my night-shift job at a different place. Holy crap, 2$ premium. That's tremendous.

oh, the base wage just went up to $14/hr plus the $2/hr night shift and if you have another language, you get yet another dollar.

I think the whole damn city works for Neteller. Or maybe it's just everyone who I meet at Broken City and the Drum & Monkey, and Bottlescrew Bill's, and any place that serves liquor...

well not having a car isn't going to help you but you could probably get a labor job in any welding shop in town, and pick up a trade if you wanted to. You can set your own starting wage based on your experience. $16 an hour would be a good start if you can drive a forklift and aren’t lazy. The big shops like enerflex would be good ones to call, they are on/near bus routs. The herald on Saturday has lots of adds for shops. Call any company hiring welders even if the add doesn't ask for general laborers. I can’t imagine an able bodied person working for less then $15 and hour in this town. I know my work needs people, but without a car it’s a long walk.

Oh and the average night shift premium in shops is $2-$3.50 and hour.

General labour (unskilled) tends to start between $10-$12 (I work in the industrial park). With a forklift ticket (not just trained on it, but certified - it's like a 4 hour training usually) it should be higher.

There are lots of able bodies working for less than $15 an hour - not all companies in town are oilfield services.

Yes $10- $12 and hour was the norm 3-4 months ago. Buddy of mine just got a forklift job for $14.50 and as much overtime as he wants, no car and no forklift ticket either.
The company I work for deals in construction and we are having trouble finding people, I’m telling you flat out, everyone needs workers bad. Pick a manufacturing shop that is easy to get to and tell them how much you want to start, hell, put it on your resume when you fax it out. If you are interested in a trade that they need, tell them that too. You have no idea how hard it is to find good, non-crack addicted workers.

Don’t get me wrong, these companies expect their moneys worth, and places that only pay $10 an hour don’t, or shouldn’t, expect too much.

Foothills Landscaping and Nurseries is looking for people for maintenance, grounds construction or nursery. Bonus if you are interested in horticulture (they pay for education off season) and they're all round decent folks to work with.

Maintenance starts around 13 or 14 bux with no prior experience, construction at 14 or 15 with no prior. If you can operate any machinery (even that forklift) you'd probably get offered more.

The general manager at the office is Rick Sharp, a nice guy and does the interviewing for the crews. The office number is 273-0113 and the fax is 248-6305

It's labour and you will get tons of hours but as far as construction outfits go... they're damn nice folks.

i work for rosedale transport, we transport mainly carpet and flooring products, so you even have experience. i believe we start at eiether 14.70 or 16$ now. anyway, its a pretty smallish warehouse and you would probably work eiether 5-1:30 or 10:30-7 or something like that. its about a 10min walk from the bus stop down a hill though, which might suck alot if you dont drive. i think were hiring, you could just fax in your resume if youre interested.

I heard SiTel pays quite nicely too, but you need an inside connection or to go through the Manpower agency (in which case you lose a couple bux/hr) - let me know if you're interested.

um no... they're here, they took over the contract for the job-I-almost-got. ask [info]thespiralcat - I don't think he could be an employee of theirs if they were only in Toronto.
