Had to throw this cake together for a friend of mines friend. Didn't have alot of time. And my cake store that I usually go to is closed on a sunday.
Chocolate Cake homemade buttercream frosting. Piping gel for the water. Which we call the GEGE Nile. Pyramid made out of vanilla wafflers. Sand make out of crushed vanilla wafflers cookies.
Not the best picture took it on my phone.
Cake I made for my niece Chloe's 4th birthday party tomorrow. Two layer (top strawberry, bottom vanilla). I piped everything except the fish (swedish fish) and the topper. Sand is graham crackers. Shells are chocolate made by me. Birthday girl requested a "octamapus" and a crab... so she got them. Her candles spell out her name, so I left that off. Enjoy.

I saw on here a couple of weeks ago that someone posted about the threadcakes contest, and I just had to try it!!! I only just got around to (finally) being able to decide on which cake I wanted to make, and here's my entry page! yaaaay!

Hi guys! I haven't posted here in a really long time but I wanted to get some advice!
Sunday the 26th is my niece's third birthday party, and I'm making a cake and cupcakes. Before that day, I'll have been in California from the 21st and I actually get in around 6am on the 26th. I just realized I'd be getting in that early, as I planned on making the cakes the night before and waking up early to make icing and cover the main cake in fondant. Luckily I've already made all of the gumpaste decorations.
So! I'm wondering how far in advance can I make the cakes and/or cupcakes and freeze them? If I make them this Saturday (at least the cake) and freeze it will it be gross the following Sunday?
- I just checked the memories, sorry! So just look at the cake I made, haha. -
Thank you so much! Here is a picture of the cake I did for my sister's baby shower so this isn't text-only:

I don't know if this will violate the community terms, but I just found a cute site called www.BakeItPretty.com and I was wondering if anyone from here had ordered anything before.
I'm way in love with their cookie cutters, and just wanted to know if anyone here had heard anything reputable. Let me know (if this post is even allowed!)
hello first post ^_^ i love cake decorating and dream of being a pastry chef one day. i finally have two pictures i can share with the group and hopefully more to come since i will be taking a cake decorating class in the fall.
i did a big cupcake cake for my friend's 18th birthday using the wilton's cupcake pan...unfortunately i did use a cake mix that turned out kind of dry and crumbly as well as frosting that was room temperature so it was quite soft. the purple-y design on the base was to hide all the crumbs that pulled through from the blue...my most difficult decorating yet LOL
this one i did for my friend's daughters' birthday..the image broke a little bit but i was able to hide it with the frosting border
i hope to share more soon! and to also get a lot better at decorating! :)
so i was cleaning my room today and stumbled upon a box of 3.5" floppy disks. one of them said wedding cake. so...i plugged in my USB floppy drive and had a peek. it was my disk of the wedding cake that i did in 2005 for cakes class at the CA Culinary Academy. WOW. i remember when i was good at doing stuff like this:
( more back here...humor me. tell me i'm good )
Made this one over the weekend; it passed the character recognition test, as (much to my delight) the 4 year old birthday boy squealed "OPTIMUS PRIME CAKE!!!! Chocolate cake with buttercream and BC transfers.

Is it just me, or does chocolate cake seem to be more crumbly than white? Anyone got a good recipe for a moist dense chocolate cake that stands up to carving?
