Cabaret Voltaire, tucked in a bleak alley in Zurich at the Cafe Odeon, was a haven for rowdy provocateurs, primitivist dancers, cacophony, and Cubist theatricals. It was here that the term Dada was first used as an affirmation (yes! yes!) to a life of art and transcendence, to a life of ideas and invention, and as a ready escape from the post-war realism and rationalism.
Here we begin a collaborative effort of art and thought, of care and intellect, in the tradition of the artists' cafes in Vienna and Zurich and Paris. Time has scattered us, but we are reunited again, to write, to learn, to talk, and to inspire one another.
