| About: | This is the first unofficial LiveJournal community for fans of the new musical, The Pirate Queen, by Boublil and Schonberg (creators of Miss Saigon and Les Misérables). Pirate Queen tells the story of Grace O'Malley, daughter of the O'Malley clan chieftan in the 17th century who rises to power and comes to prevail over the seas during rising conflict between Ireland and England. The show tells about the conflicting roles thorughout her life as warrior and woman and will include some of the greatest spectacle of Irish-influenced music, dance, and design to hit the stage in our generation, thanks to some of the creative team from the hit Riverdance phenomenon. The Pirate Queen begins its rehearsal period in Chicago, IL on September 12th, 2006. On October 3rd, 2006, it will open its doors for its world premiere preview performance in Chicago. It officially opens on October 29th, 2006, and will start previews on Broadway in New York City on February 22nd, 2007, with a scheduled March 23rd 2007 opening.
