creative writing 111 exercise 3: have you ever worked as a bible salesman or a waitress? do you have a neighbor who is a mail carrier? an aunt who's a stockbroker? a cousin who farms? make a list of the jobs you've had and about which you have second-hand knowledge. now choose one of these jobs and assign it to a character. with whom does s/he work? what problems might come up that are job-related? or, alternately, how might s/he go about talking through personal issues while on the job? using dialogue, description and the main character's thoughts, write a scene that takes place when your character is at work.
