A gift for the Burning Man Community - To get you all excited
Last year I completed my 2nd (and 3rd 4th and 5th) Burning Man videos and I put them all on a DVD to gift out at the local (Vancouver BC) regional Burner Parties



I gifted them out to as many as I could - but there was only so many people who could get them (and only so many resources for the physical copies) and few people who could play them (DVD player issues)


Since I cannot afford to go to the Playa this year (and therefor cannot be present to gift anymore copies)
I have decided to share the videos on the DVD with my LJ Burner friends who can share it with their burner friends.

1. In order to save the server (wich l2oto has so generously donated )from being overrun and slashdotted - I have had them posted as Bit-torrent files so that all the downloaders can (in the spirit of community) share the bandwidth. Go here to get the download utility http://www.bittorrent.com/

2. The files have been encoded with the DIVX codec to keep the file sizes small - to play them on your media player you may need the DIVX codec installed - you can get it here http://www.divx.com/

with me so far? clear as mud? Good.... now onto the goodies

Hi!

Posting on the internet is "public consumption", actually, and there are concerns about footage being captured without permission...I would love to see them and talk to you about written permission to post them, but I will have to do that tomorrow cuz it's Saturday night. :)

Posting on a private discussion boards and private community boards
(wich require password access) a private link to a private location with instructions to people I would consider trustworthy to keep it private isn't what I considered 'public' consumption.



The videos have also been screend publicly - at Vancouver Events , and Seattle Events as well as Ontario events - by regional reps with the orgs permission. They have been aplauded by many ranger friends of mine. I sent a copy with my 'regional rep' who said he would send it down, I even physically hand delivered a copy of the 2003 video with Media Mecha last year on the playa, and I sent a copy of 2004 down to the org through a ranger friend of mine earlier this year. By now they should have seen the films I do beleive if the Org had any issues with the content they would have contacted me by now.

The videos were created and given out in the spirit of gifting. Not a single dime was made or solicited (or ever will be) in the project. This project was zero budget from start to finish. I am not going to be able to physically gift any copies this year (no money to get down to the playa) so I figured this was the best way.

That being said - I will co-operate with the org in wichever way they want. I understand that there are 'girls gone wild' type videos out there and the org wants to make sure the participants aren't exploited - but I do hope they will review my work before condeming it and allow me to gift it as intended
