AboutThis is a community for fans of the band Mission of Burma. I should point out that it's entirely unofficial and unaffiliated with the band. While Burma-related subjects are expected to be the core of this board, other things that you think would interest the kind of people who listen to Burma are OK as well. By all means feel free to start topics concerning other bands Burma members are involved with (ex: Alloy Orchestra, consonant, Binary System, Shellac).
Due to some fairly traumatic events that led to the closure of the band's official messageboard, I started this community with a "Friends-only" posting policy (which required new members to drop me a note for posting access). I'm dropping that requirement for now, but will reinstate it if the same problem develops here.
I'm not a censorious person, but after what the "official" board was put through lately, I'm really keen on having a community where *civil* discourse dominates. That means posters showing at least a basic level of respect to other posters, including ones they disagree with and even disapprove of. If we all do that, we can bring back the fun that used to be the hallmark of the "official" board. Let's make it so!
