12:41p Sigh...
I had so many plans for today. As of yet I am still not dressed and my hair is a mess and I haven't left the house or even had anything to eat. The internet has kept my attention most of the morning. This sucks. Dan just went to pick up some Hon's for breakfast/lunch/brunch? so that we have food in our tummies. I can't seem to get off my ass today...

there was a fambly-friendly work party at the zoo yesterday, with snacks and carousel rides and flamingo tours and swag bags and everything. since i don't have any kids, i took the beatnik. i got bubbles. right before all the 'organized events' started up, the beatnik and i snuck away to go see the critters - there were arctic foxes and shy elephants and, like, a flippin' blurgazillion crows stomping around. i took a buncha pix, but my flickr account's expired so i've been downgraded to the "you can only put up finger paintings" level. soon. there will be more soon. but not now. but soon.
we were in the savannah area at feeding time - the painted dogs perked up jealously while the lioness wandered around with the spine of something in her mouth. a lot of critters were sleeping, but still, i was 3" from a (sleeping) brown bear's ear. fuzzy. they breathe really fast. sloth bears sound like vacuum cleaners, the sign said so and i have to agree. sleepy harangue-o-tangs are cute but cranky. the pygmy marmoset ran away.
you see, the best way to photograph flamingos is through a polarized filter:
after the zooparty, we ran over to the movie theater to meet Jo Jo and Co for the heX-files movie. Ummmm... Yeah.... about that... Hey Look! Here are some more zoopeeps:

2:13p Weekend off...sorta...
And by weekend off I mean I'm not doing a show. I've packed up Renea and sent her off to California, who is having everything go wrong, but the Red HOts show went well and she said everyone was super nice and great to work with. It's just the plane, car rental company, and hotel that's being a pain in the ass. Today she'll be selling at her booth and performing tonight at Midnight Mass and fly back tomorrow.
My easy peasy weekend, outside of frantic phone calls making sure everything works, has been pretty swell. Last night we did nothing. It was awesome. Got up at 8am and got ready for my photoshoot with thedamenoir at 10am. It was short adn sweet, I was back home by noon. Awesomesause! I'm going to do laundry and when weaponx_x_x gets home we'll decide what to do from there.
Tomorrow I'm teaching burlesque business and promotions from 1-3pm over at Relapse. I think we may go see Batman after that. I think we're the only people who haven't seen it yet.
Monday will be back to the grind with working two full time jobs, but I'm really enjoying this slow down this weekend. I am way too happy about doing laundry and organizing the house!

11:56a Well, Hello There!
I just looked and I have a gazillion new friends/people I don't recognize.
For those of you I don't know in real life or who don't have obvious Egyptian/Kemetic names that would place you for me, please leave a comment about who you are, why you friended me and what interests we share!
Thank you!
And I was saddened to see baci_di_dama disappear. I see the journal is deleted. I'm sad. I'll miss you, Barbara.

4:27p Book #56
56) Carmack, Sharon Debartolo. YOUR GUIDE TO CEMETERY RESEARCH. Betterway Books: 2002.
Another for-work (but right up my interests alley) read! Made me want to go out stomping around old graveyards checking out funerary scultpture and doing gravestone rubbings. Nice addition to our collection of geneaology research materials.
http://www.daguerre.org/resource/texts/burgess.html a referenced article on death photography from 1855.
