I do apologize for this chapter being nearly 15 months past its original due date. Originally, the story was scheduled to be completed within a two-month time period. However, three days after posting chapter 3, I lost my job. The first worry was to salvage what I had of chapter 4, and thankfully had e-mailed it to myself from the office. Next was just life itself. The good news is that the story is well on its way to being complete.

Title: Romancing Miss Irving, or The Angel Who Loved Me (1/?)

Summary: There were a great many things occupying Kratos Aurion at the moment. Like the fact that he'd manage to alienate everyone he knew. And he lost the key to the Tower of Mana ... again. And, most disturbing of all ... he was falling in love with Anna Irving.

Spoiler Alert: This fic is the sequel to "Birthday" and lies in the same universe as it and "Longing." It's not a tale of Kratos springing Anna from the Asgard Ranch. Really, if you want that, there's lots of fics that deal with the subject. I highly recommend "Shifting Destiny" and "Adbertos." This story is meant to be a light-hearted adventure between two adults falling in love, in the days after the escape from the ranch and before Lloyd is born. The title is an homage to Julia Quinn's novels. If you enjoy romance novels, you can't beat hers. They're fantastic and witty.

Spoiler Alert: This fic lies in a universe being developed where Anna survives the pre-game events in Iselia and does her best to continue Kratos's work in his absence. Spoilers mainly lie along the lines of the story arc dealing with Kratos, Anna and Lloyd's past, Kratos's betrayal of Cruxis and his original goals before Anna died pre-game. Note: Anyone who figures out the inspiration for Kratos and the cake delivery scene gets cookies ... er kudos. ^_^

Spoilers mainly lie along the lines of the story arc dealing with Kratos, Anna and Lloyd's past, Kratos's betrayal of Cruxis and his original goals before Anna died pre-game. I also warn you that this is a piece of experimental writing, so the POVs jump quite a bit.

Author's Notes: This story came about due to catgabriev on LiveJournal translating out the final scenes of the last Slayers novel. In that scene, Lina scraped Gourry up from the battlefield, gets him to an inn, tends to his injuries, and stays up all night watching over him. I swear, if that isn't fanfic fodder, I don't know what is! The lines from Gourry later in the fic are from the catgabriev-translated excerpt from novel#13.
