Want to issue some recs for newbies entering the fandom? Want to explore new (to you) areas of the fandom? Never told a creator how much you loved their work? Finally have time over the holidays to do some catching up on this year’s goodies? (Hey, no calories!) This is the place to gift your community, your creative folk, the new blood coming in to explore the Buffyverse and yourself all rolled into one easy-to-use community. buffyversetop5 will re-open for its 2007 recs session from midnight December 31 GMT to midnight January 20, 2008 GMT (click here for your time zone). Earlier recs are welcome during our Classic Recs session every Halloween. Click here for more details about Classic Recs. What is included and what isn’t?We’re leaving categories open to each poster’s imagination and preferences. Want to rec your favourite Buffy/Angel drabbles for the year? Favorite Spike/Giles icons? Favourite Xander/Cordelia/Anya manips? Favourite gen vids? Best Challenges, Ficathons, Communities or tag-fic? Go for it! You can post as many different lists as you wish. Our only restrictions are: (1) The items on your lists should be fan created during 2007 Part of Top 5's purpose is to celebrate and share new material that is being created by those active in the fandom, so keep an eye on the dates. There's plenty of material to choose from so share the love! (2)You limit your choices to Buffyverse and Firefly material. Crossovers are perfectly ok. Also if you would like to make top lists to other fandoms or topics, feel free to add a link within your post to your own journal where those lists are posted and say what else can be found there. (i.e., Click here to see my recs for top "Bones", “House” and “Harry Potter” fic) (3) The lists posted should be made in a positive spirit. (i.e. no Top Badfic lists). If you are not sure if something fits the bill, feel free to e-mail the mods at buffyversetop5 @ yahoo.com or check out our FAQ post. Our New Year’s resolution is to keep things here as kerfuffle-free as possible. Posting Guidelines(1) For your convenience the following header should work for most post content. Item Title or Description: Creator’s Name: Rating: All/Teen/Mature or G - NC-17 Link: Feel free to alternatively embed the link in the title/description Why I chose this: Optional. You might also describe the item in more detail here. Please make sure your recs are labelled appropriately especially if you are linking directly to images that may not be worksafe! Also, if you are reccing icons, please take a look here at some posting suggestions. (2) Your posts can be as long or short as you like. However if your post is longer than two paragraphs, using an lj-cut is mandatory. (3)Your Top 5 list should be posted in this community, not as a link to your journal. Additional recs to other fandoms and such can be linked to (see above). (4) Your subject line should be as descriptive as possible of the list content (i.e., Top 5 River essays). This will allow everyone to easily browse through the calendar later in the year and spot recs they are interested in. (5) Yes, Top 5 means 5 items only per list. If you have a lot of recs (yay!), say 50 super-spectacular icons, consider splitting them up into subcategories (i.e., Top 5 Funniest Icons, Top 5 Angel/Wes Icons, Top 5 Group Icons, Top 5 Icon Makers etc.) This is also helpful for people who are looking for very specific things. On the other hand, if you’ve just got 5 items to rec, it’s perfectly ok to have a mix of stuff in your post. (6) This is a community for rec lists of fan-created material only. Any off-topic posts will be deleted. Heads-Up and Advice(1) This community has open membership, but you must be a member of the community to post your lists. If you don’t already have a Livejournal account, you will need to sign up for one. Then select the link above that says "join this community." If you use the + button you will only be adding this community to your friends list. There are no sign-ups so you can post your lists any time you want. (2) Commenting is great too! Maybe you’ve read the same stories, maybe there’s another story by that author you’d like to point out to people, maybe you just want to tell the poster you checked out one of their recs and loved it. Just say so. One caveat: NO FLAMING, NO EXCEPTIONS! If you disagree with someone’s list, post your own and be polite in your comments. No harshing the holiday mellow! (3) This is not an English-language-only community. Links and recs to non-English material are very welcome! (4) Be generous with your praise to the creators! If you follow a rec you like, give that author/vidder/artist feedback. It’s nicer than a glass of bubbly!
