| "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" game in search of players |
[Sep. 5th, 2009|09:51 pm] |
| [ | Current Mood |
| | excited | ] | In 2003, the headquarters of the Watchers' Council was destroyed by the minions of the First Evil. That same year, the Sunnydale Hellmouth was shattered, as Willow Rosenberg cast a spell to activate every potential Slayer on Earth.
In 2005, Watcher Claudia Wyndam, her Slayer, Kimiko Yamada, and a small group of allies started the Wyndam Academy, a school designed to train the new generation of Slayers and Watchers. Today, the Academy is thriving, as a new generation of warriors hones their unique powers in the fight against the forces of darkness.
If the forces of darkness have their way, though, they won't survive to graduate....
I am looking for players for a limited-run (from September until December 2009) Buffy the Vampire Slayer game (using the Eden Studios rules) running during the evening session (from approximately 6 to 9 PM) of UB-SaRPA Open Gaming on the first and third Saturdays of each month. The game takes place after Season 7 of the TV show (so multiple Slayer PCs are possible).
No previous experience with the game system is necessary; the rules will be taught. Beginners are welcome!
Interested? E-mail thegamemistress AT gmail DOT com for more information.

My husband and I are looking for players for a Scion: Hero game running at the first session of UB-SaRPA Open Gaming (from approximately 2 to 5 PM) on the first and third Saturdays of each month, starting on September 19, 2009. No previous experience with the game system is necessary; the rules will be taught. Beginners are welcome!

| UBConXX |
[Apr. 4th, 2009|12:07 pm] |

The students from the University at Buffalo's Gaming and Anime clubs [SARPA and UBAnime] are proud to present: UBConXX--Delusions of Grandeur UB's 20th Annual Gaming and Anime Convention! One of the largest of its kind in WNY!
Don't spend the weekend alone. Head up to UB's Student Union to play LARPS and RPGs for 72 hours. In between gaming stop by the Maid Cafe, where cute girls dressed in Anime-Cosplay-Maid outfits will serve you yummy food you can eat in one of our many Anime rooms (or Hentai rooms if you'd like that better)!
If you're into even more action than LARPS and RPGs, come for our NERF WAR OF 75 PEOPLE! Friday and Saturday night!
If Cosplaying is your thing--great! Come show off your stuff at our Friday night Costume Contest! All costumes accepted at long as they are "tasteful"! "Non-cosplay" costumes desired as well! Impress us!
Guest this year: Kyle Hebert--Voice actor for Dragon Ball Z (announcer, Gohan), Naruto (Kiba), Bleach (Ganju,) Gurren Lagann (Kamina) and more!

| Boardgaming locations |

I belong to a group of people who play boardgames at a restaurant twice weekly. Tonight we had fairly poor service at our regular restaurant, and weren't allow to use the table we had reserved. (The only table large enough to accomodate some of our games.) Does anyone have any suggestions for another venue where we could play boardgames?
Most of us do order food & drinks when we attend, so we aren't freeloading on the location. The preferences we currently have for a location include:
At least one large table (two would be great) Food & drink available Staff that do not rely on tips, as we may take the tables for several hours The group has a preference for the North Buffalo area, but I would present suggestions to the group if there were a decent place located elsewhere.
My memory of the now closed Higher Grounds Coffeehouse that was at Sheridan and Millersport is an example of the perfect location. Is there something else out there that I don't know about?
For anyone interested in the local boardgame groups, you can check out the groups at meetup.com.

| Recruiting for open gaming |
[Jun. 29th, 2008|09:16 am] |
(cross-posted from ub_sarpa) Hi all,
I understand that things are slow due to the summer, but if anyone is looking for a game to join at open gaming at UB North Campus on Saturdays, I'm willing to run! I'll be running Savage Worlds. Most likely it will be Deadlands: Reloaded, but I also have Sundered Skies (dark fantasy) and Pirates of the Spanish Main. I'm perfectly willing to teach beginners, and it's an easy game to learn!
I'll be running the games episodically, so consistent attendance would be great, but isn't necessary. If interested, let me know on here or by PM. I can start as early as next week. |

| UBCon Online Conbook and Pre-Reg |
[Mar. 30th, 2008|11:58 pm] |
UBCon is just around the corner! The convention will be running April 11-13. Events are now viewable at http://www.gryvon.com/ubcon/conbook.php and the Pre-Registration form is available at http://www.gryvon.com/ubcon/prereg.php. There's still time to submit last-minute events, so get those in quick. Also, we're still accepting art for the con book (black and white line art, 8.5"x11" or smaller in size) until the end of the week.
There's been a slight shift in guests for this year. Susan Van Camp will no longer be able to join us, but in her place we're pleased to welcome back Randy Milholland of Something Positive. Jess Hartley of White Wolf and Nick Logue of Wizards of the Coast will be here as planned.
Unfortunately, Wizards of the Coast will not be hosting demos of D&D 4.0 at this time, due to a bit of restructuring they're doing on the rules.
We will be running a Food & Clothing Drive for the Buffalo City Mission the week of con. You can drop off donations at the office (308 Student Union) starting Monday, April 7th until Sunday the 13th.

| Sneak Peek of Changeling: The Lost at UBCon |
[Mar. 20th, 2007|09:52 pm] |
UBCon has a big announcement. We know this news comes very close to our convention dates, but we just got permission for the event this week:
Saturday April 14 from 5:00 PM – 6:00 PM
Reading from Changeling: The Lost with special guest Jess Hartley
Event Description: White Wolf has a new game coming out this August: Changeling: The Lost. Although they've been being pretty quiet about it so far, Jess Hartley has been working on the core book and first supplement. White Wolf has given Jess permission to do a short reading from the Core book at UBCon. This will be the first time in the world this material is being shown to the public in this quantity for this game. The reading will take half an hour to an hour, and then Jess will answer questions about Changeling and the other White Wolf projects she has worked on. Please remember that Jess is under non-disclosure agreements with White Wolf, so there will be some questions that she can't answer. NOTE: This event will run one hour from 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM.
This event will be followed by a book singing session with Jess Hartley. If you don’t know Jess, please visit her website at http://www.jesshartley.com
UBCon takes place at the University at Buffalo, State University of New York, and runs Friday the 13th of April through Sunday the 15th. Our con schedule will be up on our website shortly. Be sure to check http://wings.buffalo.edu/sa/sarpa/SARPAWEB/index.php or http://www.ubsarpa.com for our schedule and pre-registration information.
The cost to attend UBCon is $15 for the whole weekend (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday). We also have daily rates, $4.00 for the one Friday session, $9.00 for the three sessions on Saturday, and $6.00 for the two sessions on Sunday. If you are only interested in attending this one event and the other panels Jess Hartley will be on before it, you can pay for one four hour session for $4.00 a-la-carte (the Saturday 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM session), and go to the book signing and the dealer’s room.
We invite Changeling fans from all over New York and neighboring states to come to UBCon for this amazing opportunity. If you are interested in attending UBCon for more than one day, the University at Buffalo has an excellent visitors’ page with directions and lodging information at http://www.buffalo.edu/directions/ The closest and least expensive hotel is a Motel 6 on Maple Road. We do not have a special con rate, however rooms start at $40 a night. To contact the hotel: Motel 6 - Buffalo/Amherst 4400 Maple Rd (716) 834-2231 1-800-466-8356
Please use the official UB website for directions, however due to the event being on a weekend, the normal campus parking restrictions described on that website will not be in effect.
Please feel free to ask any questions you have here or on the same post in my personal journal. |
