tail feathers
i just adopted a budgie from a lady who said she didn't have enough time for him. she was examining him one day for a possible blood feather and some of his tail feathers came out. he doesn't seem to be missing them too terribly. anyway, will they grow back?

thank you!

Budgies moult their feathers, and their tail feathers I think about once (?) a year so they should grow back though you might want to check the tail area just in case.

I would get the budgie to an avian vet as soon as you can. Multiple tail feathers really shouldn't fall out all at once like that. It could be a molt but it could also be a sign of disease. Does he have all his flight feathers/was he clipped?

feathers are reaalllly hard to pull out, you cant just pull a feather out so easily.

i don't know exactly what happened; there was a struggle, as far as i know, and the feathers came out in her hand. it's not like his feathers just dropped off his butt-- there was some force involved on both parts. :) he's not tame yet.

he seems really healthy to me... curious, chatty, good appetite, favors the highest perch in the cage. i really don't see any reason to be worried about his health.

yeah Im not saying theres anything wrong with him :)
Just saying it seems weird that the last owner accidently pulled feathers out of his tail. One of mine had a blood feather in her tail and I had to get it out with pliers.

:))
