Yay! Nail Trimming
Guess what? I trimmed Frankie's nails! I was worried about doing it, since Frankie's not totally tame, but it went great! I wrapped Frankie in a washcloth, with one foot out at a time. Afterwards, Frankie even sat on my lap and arm for a little while and let me scritch his head (maybe he was just still stunned and confused by what I had done to his feet). I had styptic powder on hand, but didn't need to use it. Luckily, the quick is very evident on lutinos.

How long can budgie nails get before you need to clip them? I have a feeling ours needs to be clipped...Would you recommend going to a vet to do it the first time, or is it safe to do it yourself if you have no experience?

Oh, go you! I have yet to do my bird's nails. I'm so scared! There are two toes on each foot that need trimming, and I'm scared. :/

He's so squirmy and cries if I hold him like you're supposed to, which is the only way I can see fit to cut their nails really, so I have no other choice.

I don't want to use the styptic powder, but where might I find it? Does it hurt them? I heard it hurt them but stopped the bleeding anyhow. I don't think I want to use it, but...

Hmm, congratulations and maybe I'll actually clip my bird's nails this time!

you can get styptic powder at most pet stores, usually in the cat section, I think. And I've heard you can also use flour. I'm not sure though...

I heard corn starch rather than flour was what to use.

Hmm, okay. Thanks. I think flour wouldn't hurt as much, possibly, but you never know. Thanks though. :)
